Would any cynics out there still like to claim that this route is a slot-sitter ?

They probably will until Heathrow gets its bloody 3rd runway sorted!

Great to see the loads improving year on year.

I would never describe it as a slot-sitter but I am sure if BA thought they could make more utilising the slots on a more lucrative route they would.

Long may the Heathrow route continue....!

According to the article on the YEP website this morning, we might be in line for more flights.

We don't need anymore rotations we need a night stopping a/c! BA know this they just cannot get the slots required to do it!

The article is pie in the sky! Extra flights only when LHR expands meaning a 3rd runway! 10 years+ to wait for that at least... Heathrow airport LTD are trying to get LBA and the LCR to back LHR expansion plans instead of gatters. It's pretty simple the more people on their side means the better chances of expansion at LHR.

If you ask me the LHR third runway fiasco is politics at its finest, a total aviation embarrassment and what does our government do! Talk talk talk and do F all about the real problem!

A similar report in the Scottish media this morning saying Heathrow bosses may consider a deal with landing charges for flights from Scotland IF they get their expansion plans approved !
Personally, on the LBA - LHR route I would think the next development would be use of A320 on some rotations if demand continues as it is.

3/day works fine and without a nightstop BA have, to be fair, got this working very nicely.

Optimum schedule (given no nightstop)
Reliable
Cheap (IMO)
T5
Additional domestic gates at T5 sorted so rarely met by buses.

Loads reflect all this but this temporary 2/day carry in is most unwelcome.

The YP article so positive but shrouded in politics. LHR are offering to provide all the UK feed to their airport in return for a 3rd runway. This will include Newquay, Inverness, Humberside etc etc. basically what AMS already provides.

As someone who believes that the 3rd runway is very much needed and also believe that the regions are neglected then this is all music to my ears. If the government approves the 3rd runway with the regional support as part of the deal then what's not to like. And even if it is 10 years away BA will not be looking to pull out of any UK stations that they wld have to return to on the opening of the 3rd runway.

A fleet of smaller 100 seat a/c wld be required by whoever operates these routes as per KLM's Embraer/Focker fleet.

All I will say is that HAL (Heathrow Airport Limited) are very confident of the answer being “yes” in their favour. We’ll have to wait and see after the General Election what transpires.

From a personal perspective, I live under the flight path at LHR when 09R is in operation for departures and full back the need for a 3rd runway for the greater good of the whole of the UK. The conditions I’m looking for as a neighbour of the airport are for the regions to be recognised and not just additional flights to emerging markets, cargo etc and of course, no scheduled night flights.

It's all about Heathrow wanting to be the best used airport in the world. Why should everything have go via London? The UK is not just London as they wish to tell the world. I don't think that if they get the Heathrow third runway, they will be too bothered about services to the north of England.

Which is precisely why I am saying that the government if it approves their 3rd runway shd put some provisos in place mandating that some of the additional capacity is used to serve the regions.

From a political/economic pov it's a no brainer really

Hi,

Flew down on the 09:30 shuttle (BA1341) last wednesday and flight was full to capacity (some pax i think were transferred from the cancelled KLM flights of the previous day owing to high winds). Large cohort of connecting passengers at LHR including us to JFK. Return this morning on the 1340 with 40 pax, most of which had connected in from LH flights. Beautiful views over the moors, and even Leeds looking pretty in the sunshine. ;) Long may this route continue.

I assume that's BA1340 and not the 13.40 arrival (BA1342). Good to see the loading last Wednesday and agree long live the route.

March 2015 seems to have been another good month of passenger figures for British Airways Leeds/Bradford-London Heathrow route. Even though it was operating 2x daily A319 for most of the month 10.948 passengers were still carried.

If only they had run the 3rd daily service....................

When I flew down to LHR last Friday on the afternoon flight there was 84pax. Inbound I counted 138. Coming back on Monday evening there were 135pax but only 17 going back.

On the assumption that 2 flights operated every day in March (which is probably not correct), that is 124 rotations altogether, which gives an average passenger load of 88.6 per flight. Pretty good overall and no doubt it would be much higher if you took out of the equation the last flight of the day heading South. The next 6 months will be interesting - back to 3 a day and the peak season coming. Will we manage over 13,000 pax in a month this year for the first time?

Heather 13,000 has already been passed, As they carried 13,696 passengers in September last year.

I am pleased to say that the figures for the last 2-3 weeks have been outstanding.

The route is doing great just now. Running 2/day in Mar was a mistake that hopefully won't be repeated.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
