I think this forum has become just sycophantic to whatever CWL management and the WG do and am not sure my contributions add anything so I am out from here.
I think you’ll find the cost of Welsh Government is considerably higher according to this FOI request. But it’s not just the direct operating costs that need to be taken into account but all the bureaucracy and dithering.

I really struggle to see the value the WG adds in comparison to the oodls of bureaucracy, quangos, task forces etc - I favour small government and less layers. The last big economic investment in Wales I consider really successful for jobs, homes, economy was Cardiff Bay and this was directed...
I have to say I strongly disagree with the Spencer argument for a whole host of reasons but hey ho it will be what it is. I do agree tho whoever is appointed has a monumental task on their hands to keep the airport viable.
It’s sad (but not unsurprising) that Deb has chosen to leave and I wish her well. I do hope they look outside for some fresh blood, energy and impetus for a new CEO though.
It is an aviation forum and I want to see a WG aggressively promoting their investments. IMHO QR won’t be back and FR will now think twice about a benign aviation environment in Wales. Just my opinion.
Agree about pandemic but it makes no sense to deviate from the policy in England when people can move freely across the border.
As for anti WG sentiment we’ll have to agree to differ as I think they are totally useless and the amount of money devolution and forming a parish council with umpteen...
That’s my point they are not really ‘arms length’ or ‘commercial’ they are at the behest of the WG!
anyway if nothing else this episode has told the Welsh public that Ryanair are operating from CWL !
And Ken Skates has just completed a press briefing saying the aviation sector needs support! I know the poor Airbus employees have a lot more to be concerned with right now but still......
it also shows howCWL isn’t really run as an arms length commercial organisation as we have heard nothing...
