If Ryanair insists on operating what will the WG do? Will they have the police on duty outside CWL to issue fines to those who have travelled more than five miles?

Funnily enough, I asked the same question in the CWL General thread this morning in relation to people travelling from England to use CWL given the much more stringent travel restrictions in Wales.

It’s a nonsense -how do the WG know who from Wales is travelling the other way to fly from BRS ? Am sure not helpful to the overall relationship to call for this 3 days before they are due to depart.....the WG seem to be on an economic suicide mission in general.....

Actually if you have a genuine reason for travel then it is not illegal.

what if someone had a 2nd home in Spain and is returning to their main home in Wales. They would also be allowed to travel.

Those who are travelling on Friday unless FCO guides change will effectively have their travel insurance void too by my understanding.

Mathers you are right. FR have been flying ex UK for several weeks now. BA have been flying to US destinations and Europe throughout. If people want to take a risk (es in Europe where there are EHIC cards) that’s up to them. We don’t currently live in a Nanny state......

Well the way some people are reacting on Facebook it's as if the WG have personally insulted MOL and it's the end of Cardiff airport! Lol

The WG’s approach to lockdown lifting has been absolutely terrible both economically and socially!

Despite me having my criticisms of the UK Government in England, the Welsh first minister has acted like he’s running a local council.

Well technically he is. As the powers available to the WG in general make it an over powered council.
But compared to the UK government he's been practically competent!

I’m not sure how it is competent to allow people to travel daily to use/work “no essential” shops in the centre of Cardiff (I went in yesterday and the train from where I live high originated in the valleys was busy) is fine and there could be hundreds of Welsh people travelling from Wales to BRS, BHX and MAN but not a couple of hundred people (prob less) to travel to CWL ? An airport that the WG has tens of millions staked in. MOL could just run round and say OK we’ll pull out completely. It makes no logical sense and could damage what could be a really important relationship for the airport.

He’s totally competent In the fact that he’s trying to annoy an airline at a seriously struggling airport.

I do wish we still had Carwyn Jones with some rational thought.

And i Do hope we can get rid of Welsh Labour next Spring.

Well we can agree there!
I don't think Ryanair really cares. As far as they are concerned where people come from and why to fly on their flights isn't there problem. As long as the airport is open they'll operate the flights.

And Ken Skates has just completed a press briefing saying the aviation sector needs support! I know the poor Airbus employees have a lot more to be concerned with right now but still......

it also shows howCWL isn’t really run as an arms length commercial organisation as we have heard nothing from the CWL management team - who if they were really running a commercial business would cry foul and point out the stupidity of WGs actions and all their rivals operating flights etc

Why would they essentially criticise the owners of the company? If I criticised the owners of the company I worked for in public the least I could expect is disciplinary action.
Ken Skates is right the aviation industry does need support especially in Wales but there's not a lot the WG can do. They just don't have the fiscal power's to raise the type of cash needed to support it and don't have the ability to cut the likes of APD to help the airport and it's unclear let if post transition they could do similar schemes like Israel in paying airlines to bring in non Welsh passengers or pay airlines to operate certain routes like airports do in the USA without having to hide it as a marketing deal.

That’s my point they are not really ‘arms length’ or ‘commercial’ they are at the behest of the WG!

anyway if nothing else this episode has told the Welsh public that Ryanair are operating from CWL !

I know that FR have been looking for reasons to pull out from CWL and I think this might just be the cherry on the cake.

Where has this come from? I would have thought if they wanted to leave Cardiff they would just up and go like they do all over Europe.

On another not I bet if it was Qatar starting back up on Friday nothing would have been said.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
