[textarea]Jet2 to grow at Manchester Airport

Jet2 is to create 143 jobs at Manchester Airport as it adds frequencies to existing routes and starts services to new destinations, MEN reports. The budget airline will recruit 73 cabin crew and 25 pilots by next summer as well as 45 ground staff as it brings check-in and customer service operations in-house.

Jet2 currently flies to 34 destinations from Manchester and will carry more than a million passengers this year. That represents 20 percent growth on 2009, with the airline predicting further growth of 20 percent in 2011 as it increases flight frequency on its most popular routes, including Venice, Pisa, Nice and Palma, Majorca, and launches services from next summer to Larnaca and Paphos in Cyprus and Brive in France's Dordogne region.

An additional Boeing 737 will be based at Manchester Airport from next summer, taking its fleet based at the hub to nine.

Jet2 have cancelled their entire Tunisian programme for Summer 2011. Flights were due to operate from MAN, LBA, NCL and GLA.

Jet2's New toy, Boeing 737-800WL has been pulled out of the Air Livery hanger today waring the companies full silver and Red colours.

Should be going to LBA very shortly then its back to Manchester for crew training and for services to start opertaing from the end of February/Early March..

Whilst I dont know the registrations, summer 2011 should see:

4 757s
2 B737-800's
3 B737-300's

It looks like Jet2 are to announce a new Manchester to Barcelona route for summer 2012.

Flights will commence from March 28th 2011 and operate 4 times weekly on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The route is already on sale on there website at www.jet2.com

Jet2 launches new route to Barcelona from Manchester, what do you think will happen to
Reus now? will they stop flights to Reus and move over to Barcelona like all there flights from other UK airports go to. The route inst due to commence until march 2012.

I wonder if there was some sort of contraint on them starting a Barcelona route in the first place?! It seems funny starting a Reus service then a year(?) later starting a Barcelona service.
I'm sure that if the load figures are profitable on the Reus service and have no effect, after, the Barcelona service has been launched then they will keep them both.

i have noticed on the manchester airport website that the incoming funchal has quite a long delay and isn't expected to come in until tomorrow afternoon, anyone know what the cause of the delay is?
