I don't mind turbo-props for anything up to about an hour and a half journey.

The stats on many of Flybe's routes for April 2019 were quite down especially Italy. Was there some sort of strike in Italy in April?

Glasgow 2886 +17%
Chambery 459 +40%
Paris CDG 6747 -7%
Munich 1369 +14%
Cork 1087 -8%
Dublin 7818 -12%
Milan MXP 1049 -48%

There was certainly an Italian strike in May that caused flight cancellations at a number of UK airport including I think CWL.

In April Alitalia staff were due to strike with local industrial action also planned at Milan airports. I can't remember if the strikes actually took place. If they did they would have been peripheral to UK operations.

In May 2018 I flew to Verona from CWL and on the return I can remember there being no more than 30 on their then E195.
Even on a 175 I was a bit surprised to see it return for 2019. April's 226 for this year means it was probably not going to see 2020 regardless of Flybe's restructuring.

I wonder if they are the results of Flybe's troubles which may have put people off booking or a tour operator pulled off the route?

Depends on the what backing there is from tour operators like TUI offering mountains and lakes packages.

It looks like my Berlin flight won't be my last on the Flybe E-jets. Just booked Dublin to Cardiff in July as part of my return home from visiting my sister in Leeds in July.

How are you getting from Leeds to Dublin?

Cancel. I've just read the LBA Ryanair thread.:)

My wife and I had our first Ryanair flights last year. They were very good. My wife had always refused to fly with them because of the customer-relations aspect she'd read so much about. Our experience has changed her mind.

I was hoping that my first Ryanair flight would be from Cardiff but this was a good opportunity! I was originally thinking of using KLM but it was too expensive. So choose to go via Dublin and booked a flexible ticket with Flybe as a just in case!

Does anyone know what on earth has been up with Flybe over the last couple of days? Nearly every flight either 1-2 hours late or cancelled

Someone mentioned the other day that a 1st officer hadn't turned up. I can only assume that they are short of crew.

Not just at CWL it seems. Earlier this week someone posted in another forum that Flybe had experienced "three dreadful days at BHX with mass delays and over 20 sectors cancelled".

Another poster said that much of the problem there was a lack of Swissport handling staff.

Judging by this along with the brutal implementation of their baggage policy, and I heard that an Edinburgh flight the other day was overbooked by 8 people... do you think it's likely connect are just squeezing the company for profitability over bad PR as they expect to drop the Flybe brand soon?
Interesting what you say about the swissport staff being a reason for delays, you'd think the fact that it's relatively easy to train ground staff as opposed to pilots, they'd be the least likely area of labour shortage

It is a tough time for Flybe at present especially at Cardiff. Don’t forget that cabin crew have been told there are no job for them come the winter and the flight deck would have to relocate.

What you have now is a situation where crew are leaving, taking days off for interviews.

This allowed under UK legislation as an employer cannot hinder en employee to find alternative meant of employment especially if they are to be made redundant.

No I’m not sure if this paints the whole picture at Cardiff as they have had some aircraft issues too.

For instance I know that the 2nd EDI was cancelled due to crew sickness on Wednesday. Or at least that what they told the passengers. The CDG then went tech several times and eventually returned to stand. This was the. Due to operate the last EDI.

As for ground staff/. I would find it difficult that fights were cancelled due to lack of ground staff as there’s always ways and means especially with a self service kiosk but would accept there are delays.

Ground staff don’t go through the same rigorous training but with the rubbish pay it is getting more and more difficult to find good reliable staff these days because for the crap you have to put up with from rude passengers who cannot follow the rules is not enough for just over minimum wage.

Flybe have cancelled 11 flight's at Cardiff since the 26th June. Staff leaving is believed to be the cause although Flybe just quote operational reasons. Andrew RT Davies has criticised Flybe and the airport and the Welsh government for the situation and wants a statement from the airport about it. I honestly don't know what he expects them to do.
As a customer I'm slightly concerned about my flight from Dublin but there isn't a lot I can do but this negative press may put other people off from booking with them in the future.

You can't blame the staff for leaving early if they have new jobs in prospect elsewhere. The new owners of Flybe ought to have recognised the likely problems and not just at CWL. Perhaps they did but judged it was something that they could do little about and would have to live with it and hope the 'new' airline comes out at the other end in better shape to provide a proper service.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
