Major water pipe replacement works due 14th July until January 2026 between Rawdon Cross Roads and Green Lane Yeadon. Two way traffic signals just as a heads up. Just in time for peak holiday season!!!
Yes its the period where no schools are on and less folk at work due to travelling away so on any other road its the best period to do the works but this is one of the primary routes to LBA, so not the best situation!

Ironically, and I hate to say this but we encountered no issues at all on our recent journey to/from MAN. No real surprise on the to as it was fairly early Sunday morning but the from was Friday teatime. Yes it was a little slower but only a little slower. So clearly very much luck of the draw me feels, although agree that darn motorway is getting ever more awful.

I’ve been fortunate so far to have never had a catastrophe on that motorway, however I’m fully aware that one is never too far away. I’ve had a 30 minute delay between Huddersfield and Rochdale (that’s how far the tailbacks were) due to 1 closed lane on one of the bridges, and I’ve had family members have a 4 hour journey from York to Manchester (centre). However that’s as bad as it’s got for me

Also due to my location I’m able to take alternative, though much slower, routes to Manchester.

However, the drive to LBA is much shorter, calmer and with much less jeopardy, so I’d choose that any day of the week

Always a gamble on the M62 when you’ve an arrival time to meet. Checking the traffic on your satnav route in advance of setting off will give you an idea of any delays although obviously it can’t account for accidents that have just happened where the tailbacks form within seconds.

I frequent the 62 twice a week for work to north Wales if it's rush hour 7.30-9.30 am ish your usually crawling from j18 rite through to j12 maybe further but I come off there. if you come off at j20/j18 to go round the bottom it usually ques from j24 at Denton most the way through to the airport. Add a crash into the mix you can be sat there ages. Any other time of the day is usually OK unless there is an accident.

Used the train today to go from Glasshoughton to Bradford via Leeds. Whilst checking the Leeds departures online, I noticed that Leeds Bradford Airport was on the departures page. Apparently CrossCountry run a regular train service to LBA! What gives?

see here, it will probably show you the latest departures but there seems to be a regular service

They also show on the Real Time Trains website. Quite common for bus connections to be showing at various locations across the country such as Peterborough to King's Lynn

I think it's a hangover from when Arriva owned both CrossCountry and the Flyer services.

And just to add to all the current negative news, I have just seen a news link claiming that the affordability of the Parkway Station is being reviewed. Not been able to access the article

Ridiculous, whilst there is once again mention of the DSA station back in talks. laughable joke of a country

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
