I saw one about 16:30 ish it flew straight over my house from what I could see it was military similar looking to the big yellow coast gaurd helicopters. I too have no knowledge of helicopters so can't name what it was

Perhaps an RAF search and rescue Sea King like this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westland_Sea_King? I've seen them on LGI before in dark green camouflage colours. Perhaps Wills dropped in to get the Mrs something from Harvey Nichs?

That looks very similar to what I saw galaxy, just wasn't bright yellow more like dark green or black

Well that is a rare sight indeed, i know that military and civilian aircraft try not use one another airfield's if possible as it costs a lot more to do so. So i was told by someone who works in RAF.

This afternoon two helicopters stopped in at LBA for what I presume to be re-fueling. They both arrived at around 15:30 and departed at 16:25.

My knowledge of helicopters is extremely basic, and so all I can tell you is that there were two helicopters. I was about 3 miles away as the crow flies and they seemed to be Military(?) and they headed South on departure.

I can clear up the situation regarding the 2 Military Helicopter's seen transiting the LBA and Leeds area yesterday afternoon.

They where a pair of RAF Merlin's(Reg's ZJ120 & ZJ994) Both and had landed at nearby Coney Park for refuelling not LBA.

I see that Jet2 are again operating a Northern Lights charter this evening for Omega Holidays out off LBA.

LS6101 = ETD 21:00 - ETA 00:20

I also understand we should see the a Cruise charter operating out to Bergen this coming Wednesday, 25/01/12. I don't currently know who's been chartered to operate the flight. I know they have used SAS out of Manchester in the past, But I'ld put a bet on that Jet2 end up operating it out off LBA.

The ex all white Jet2.com Boeing 737-300, G-GDFB is due to position back into Leeds tomorrow afternoon at 16:00 from Bournemouth as EXS032E which will revel her new colours. So its going to be one to watch out for...

One of the based Jet2 737's should be positioning back up to Norway over the next few days to bring the cruise passengers back. Unfortunatley the cruise ship had broken down and did not make it to Bergen. The ship is out of action for a week, so the cruise has been cancelled.

Jet2 dispatched Boeing 737-300, G-CELG from Leeds up to Trondheim this morning as LS141C. She is due back into Leeds at 13:30 as LS6177.

Meanwhile Jet2 Leeds based Boeing 737-300, G-CELS has been dispatched out to Craiova this morning as LS138C. She will operate the Ford contract back to Southend and then most likely position back into Leeds later this evening. This flight would normally be operated by the Gatwick based G-CELK but she operating a charter up to Norway today for Transun Holidays.

Jet2 seem to have been very successful this winter, in the amount of charters they have landed, literally, with their aircraft....

I suspect they make quite a lot from this....?!

Has it (G-LSAM)since set off again as EXS105C ?

Yep it seemed to divert into Newcastle on it's return to LBA..

I don't think G-LSAM has since set off again...? :dunno:

G-LSAM is operating EXS 6121 from Oslo - Tenerife and is currently on approach now to Tenerife
