Funny goings on this afternoon. The Ryanair 737 800 from Ibiza aborted landing after a very late touch down in the wet (all wheels down) then on its second attempt turned into the currently closed taxiway, stopping with it's back end stuck out into the runway. Flights now in the hold as a result, and a tug going out to the stricken 737 to push it back on to the runway.

Clearly this crew are having a bad day.

Fun and games watching FR. Backlog of departing flights now cleared, a holding Ryanair just snuck in to land on 32 (short on fuel perhaps) as a Jet2 just cleared the runway taking off on 32 whilst another Jet2 took off on 14 although 32 seems to be the preferred runway. Other holding aircraft now being cleared to 32, panic almost over!

Plus all the aircraft landing long on 32 and missing the turnoff are doing a U-turn and not going down to the loop. To save time perhaps?

They were doing 180s last Saturday and during the week too, so looks like that restriction has been lifted.

I was watching it live. The first Ryanair aborted landing is worth a watch.
Yes the ryanair from ibiza aborted landing then once down on 2nd attempt taxied into a closed taxiway, bad day at the office haha
Also a late landing jet2 which resulted in hard breaking and reverse thrust! I must say when the wind is blowing many of the landings are nail biting to watch!
Saturday afternoons are certainly very busy indeed at LBA.

Looked like the sudden torrential downpour had something to do with landing long and the subsequent go around. Restricted vision of the pilot just at the crucial moment? As regards trying to go along the closed taxiway, should have gone to Specsavers!

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 2nd time
If you’re tired of takeoffs, you’re tired of life.
49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
