Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Anyone else see the a380 flying quite low over Leeds around 40 mins ago? I saw an aircraft looking a few cm across in the sky, low enough to not see the contrail. Through the binocs I saw it was an a380, couldn't see any markings due to the angle, so assumed it was the Emirates one heading to MAN, what with it being so low, however Flightradar showed an Air France one passing by at 34000ft, from CDG to SFO. There's no way that was at 34000ft. Very puzzling.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

The Air France A380's are quite a common sight over Leeds now en route to the USA and Canada. I didn't see the one you are referring to, but I did hear it and spent a while trying to spot it without the brightness making me sneeze (which in the end it did anyway). I think the aircraft had gone behind the clouds as I never saw it, but the A380 sounds different to other jets. Since I never saw it, I can't comment on its height, but it certainly sounded very much louder than normal. I don't think that the Emirates A380 going into MAN would ever come over Leeds unless it was re-routed to avoid storm cell activity - something that did happen on Saturday earlier this summer when I saw 3 MAN bound aircraft in quick succession descending SW towards MAN over my home in Cookridge. Definitely NOT LBA traffic.

The Naples flight this time was operated by an Embraer 170 incidentally - I think the previous two were 190's. Is this the first time a 170 has been into LBA? It is the first one I have seen for sure.

The charter on August 6th was actually the first one, I happened to be in the car in meanwood and saw it on finals.

I doubt it was an Emirates because they have the word Emirates emblazoned on the underside of the fuselage in VERY large letters. So depending on how low it was I imagine you would have been able to make something out even if the word Emirates wasn't clear.

They are a sight to see though aren't they?

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Just to let everyone know, G-LSAE is back in LBA after swapping with G-LSAJ in Palma yesterday morning/afternoon. G-LSAJ which operated out of LBA is now operating out of EMA, where G-LSAE was previously based.

Here's a BA 747 taken from the top of Pen-y-ghent last week with my camera at full 12x optical zoom. The a380 I saw over Leeds looked the same size with the naked eye, without the contrail of course, so no way was it at 34000 as stated by Flightradar, especially considering how much lower I am in Leeds compared to the top of P-y-g. I'm just puzzled as to why the Air France a380 was so low, considering it had been in the air for a fair while since leaving CDG.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

I have seen the Air France A380 a number of times coming over Leeds
Also Lufthansa ones occasionally
They do look very big even at high altitude
You saw this looking low and I didn't so I can't say if it was normal

However the absence of contrails means nothing
I have seen the lufthansa at 36000 ft without contrails before

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

If you are up early enough, on some mornings there is a Lufthansa A380 that comes over at about 08:00. You can also sometimes see the Emirates on approach to Manchester at lunchtime if it comes far enough North.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Looks like we are going to have 2 BA Cityflyers in this coming Saturday evening. 1 inbound from Naples and 1 from Brescia. Both then position upto Edinburgh.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

I have heard today that we are getting a Qatar airbus positioning in tomorrow, staying for 3 days the departing with some royals. Sorry if this has been covered somewhere else. I didn't check before I posted

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Any idea what time, or what yype of airbus?

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Well the possible Airbus' that Qatar Airways operate are, A319LR, A320, A321, A332 & A333. I would suspect it would be some of the smaller Airbus' as they are commonly used to transport Qatar Royals, most likely the A319LR or the A320, as these have also been used on commercial Berlin-Doha routes!

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

We could always hope and dream that a rich member of the Qatar Royal family are here to buy Leeds United.

Well it's funny you should mention that because rumour has it that they are visiting Elland road. Make of it what you will. :search:

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Its now showing on the LBA arrival boards.

She is due in at 15:55 from London Heathrow as QAF011. I understand that the aircraft that's visiting will be Qatar Airways, Airbus A320CJ, A7-MBK

She is also to be parked on the main apron. Not going Multiflight for some reason

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Shame it's 14 in use today and not 32, so won't get a pic of it flying past over Leeds :-( oh well will watch it on the Multiflight webcam, as I type it's west of Keighley... Qatar airways with Royals! Take that Doncaster Sheffield Robin Hood haha!!

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Expected, Monday 05/09/11

Loganair will be operating 2x return Glasgow flights this Monday for some reason unbeknown to me at this time, along side the 2x daily bmi regional scheduled service.

LOG6790 ETA 09:00 - LOG6791 ETD 09:30
LOG6794 ETA 16:05 - LOG6795 ETD 16:35

These flights could be operated by one of there own Saab 340 aircraft or by using one of the Sucking Airways (Ex Scot Airways), DO328 aircraft seen as they have just been taken over by Loganair/flybe very recently.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

I understood that so far, we have had one outbound BA to Naples, and one return flight bringing the happy holiday makers home again, so does anyone know how come this time, which is presume to be the last of this series for this year, we have 2 flights coming back, one from Brescia (which has already been and gone as I saw it leaving and it was, as posted below, an E170) and one from Naples?

Great to see Qatar Airways at LBA - I can feel a trip up to the airport and a 'drive by' up White House Lane coming on tomorrow!

Hopefully someone will be able to shed some light on the additional Loganair flights to and from GLA on Monday. A sign of things to come in the future perhaps?

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Just for info everyone.

For anyone going up to LBA to see the Qatar Airways, Airbus A320CJ, A7-MBK that arrived this afternoon. She is expected to stay for 3 days before heading off to Ibiza.

She is not parked at Multiflight. Instead she has been parked onto stand 22 which is on the new apron and is currently nosed in facing towards Golf Course.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
