Or is that to throw us of the scent . I find it hard that the uks second largest tour operator would continue to ignore the Wales/ south west England market for the foreseeable future.

I think their popularity at Stansted and Birmingham has taken them by surprise so it looks like at the moment they'll concentrate on building them up and expanding at existing bases.
I also wonder if the ongoing APD debate may give them a bit of a pause and they may want to see how that turns out before throwing all their eggs in the BRS basket not to mention that BRS already has stiff competition with it's established airlines and there is no gap to fill from a collapsed airline either.

I suppose that if STN and BHX are going so well they will concentrate on developing those latest new bases rather than look to new ones at this stage.

In their submission to the Welsh Affairs Committee BRS remarked about the APD spectre. Whether that was part of their campaign to resist APD devolution or is a genuine issue I suppose only the BRS management will really know. If APD is not devolved for a few years that uncertainty will remain and, if it really is having a detrimental effect on airlines looking at BRS, there doesn't seem a lot the airport can do about it.

I don't think we'll be seeing a Jet2 BRS base anytime soon.

Bit more growth for you.
SI will add 3 JER per week for peak summer.
Double daily on Monday, Friday and Sunday according to Blue Islands/Flybe booking engine.

Flights leave BRS at 1630 on Monday to Friday with additional flights at 1245 on Monday and Friday. Saturday sees a 1725 BRS departure and Sunday 1300 and 1545.

Out of interest does the route do ok for pax or yield through the winter months Am I right in thinking when Blue island started JER out of BRS it was a double daily rotation. They must be confident for growthg out of BRS to put on extra flights.Good on them and long may it continue.
I have often wondered why Easy jet has not jumped on the Jer route,as they were quick enough to jump on the IOM route.

I think they often increase during peak summer. They certainly did about 2 years ago. If anything since taking on the flybe brand, frequency has reduced as it was double daily for quite some time.

A few years ago there was speculation that easyJet would enter the BRS-JER market. Snag is it might not have been daily and would almost certainly have knocked anyone else off the route.

There was a time when four separate carriers operated BRS-JER.

In the summer of 2004 the departures from BRS to JER were thus:

0825 GR641 (Aurigny) Mon to Fri went on to Guernsey
1015 WOW303 (Air Southwest) Mon to Fri via Plymouth
1100 BA4033 (BA franchise) Mon to Fri and Sat 1200 (BA4075) and 1330 (BA4077) and Sun 1020 (BA4075)
1300 BE223 (Flybe) Mon to Fri and Sun and Sat at 1215 (BE223)

I remember using the Auringy flight to Guernsey via Jersey around that time.

Two or three years ago there was speculation that easyJet might operate BRS-JER (around the time they began BRS-IOM) but if they had it might not have been daily and would probably have seen off any competitor.

Red Flyer said this yesterday: There will also be another route announcement tomorrow but you will have to wait to see where to and by whom.

In the easyJet thread there is talk that Rhodes will operate from June to October at 2 x weekly. This might be what Red Flyer was alluding to but there is nothing yet in the easyJet booking engine.

However, on Monday Dave Lees the BRS CEO told ITV West Country News that he was confident that there would be news this week of a European airline replacing one of the flybmi routes. So, assuming easyJet and Rhodes is a runner, there might be something else to be announced this week as well.

I contacted Bristol Airport’s Facebook social media team late this afternoon and specifically asked about the German routes and Paris route, I got the following response:-

Hi,
We have no update on any of the routes at present.
Best regards
Mark

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
