I'm looking (hoping) for some expert insight here! I'm writing about online check in for flights and wondered if anyone knows and specific tidbits of information regarding the history of online check in?
I'm covering, from a consumer information point of view, how to negotiate your check in - self check in booths / manned counters / smart phone check in apps / bag drop and so on...
However, it would be really good to include dates at which any airlines may have made the decision to stop producing paper tickets, in lieu of e-tickets?
Just how much ££ has been saved by airlines by the transition from paper ticket to e-ticket and from manned check in to self check in / online check in?
In your opinion, what are the pitfalls (or less obvious advantages) of the new systems?
