Now EMA is started to feel the effects, numerous diverts now. We should be glad for our wrongly aligned runway in cases like today!

Yeah there's a couple holding. Still plenty more Easyjets coming up from Gatwick heading up to LPL, BHX must be full by now?

A bit of a crazy night last night lets hope the worst is now over. G-EZGP and G-EZUA have departed back to Bristol, BA 763 G-BNWZ departed in the early hours and Emirates 773 A6-ECR is due out this morning back to Gatwick.

I think most, if not of last nights diversions have now departed with Emirates departing back to Gatwick just after midday followed by the Thomson 757 and Cyprus A320 shortly after. It looks like a great job done by the staff to get as many aircraft in as possible under what I can only imagine were very difficult circumstances. The Cyprus A320, BA A320 and I think the TOM 757 ended up parked on taxiway Tango for the night, in an agreement with local residents it's not generally used after 11pm anyway, for once it seems the BHX runway orientation was an advantage.

This afternoon saw an Aer Lingus Regional ATR72 divert in from EDI.

LBA has virtually the same runway alignment at 320'/140' and it's not very often a strong wind favours those headings.

That's some list there. It reminds me of diverts into LBA back in the 90's when just about every UK airport was fog bound except LBA and back then autolands were almost unheard of. Not great for the passengers but I'm sure they will be just glad to be back on the ground after the weather yesterday.

A couple of flights from Gatwick ended up at Amsterdam so on the face of it Birmingham doesn't seem so bad. I did feel for the Enontekio pax, with it being a Santa flight I bet there were a few very tired children.

Just two diverts today, an Aer Lingus A320 from DUB and a Thomson 757 from BRS.

The weather today made for some interesting landings, got to the top of the car park to see a KLM 737 do a touch and go followed by an Easyjet A319 (see picture below) doing a go around. Shortly after a Flybe E175 did a go around from fairly early on in the approach reporting windshear. Everything else got in OK and with ATC reporting winds gusting up to 39knts at times there was some great flying.

This afternoon an Aer Lingus ATR from Cork diverted (not sure where to) and an Easyjet A320 had a couple of goes then went to Stansted.

A picture of the Easyjet just before going around this morning.

The Aer Lingus from Cork ended up at Manchester.

Great photo. BHX has certainly provided some very interesting landings over the past few months!

There looked to have been some very interesting approaches today with a couple of go arounds, I think everything got in OK though. Aer Lingus have cancelled this afternoons flights from Cork and Shannon and Eastern have cancelled Newcastle.

Inbound we've had a Ryanair divert in from Bristol and a Virgin A333 G-VKSS from Heathrow which I believe is still on the ground.

Two Easyjet A320's and a BA A320 just diverted in after go arounds at MAN also an Easyjet A319 en route to LPL got as far north as Stoke then turned right into BHX, all squeezed in between a Lufthansa A321 and Ryanair 738. Two Lufthansa A320's also diverted away from MAN but went over BHX heading south.

There were a couple of Flybe's from MAN and a Ryanair from East Mids to add to the above. For info the two Lufthansa A320's diverting from MAN went to Dusseldorf (FRA) and Brussels (MUC).

TAP had a missed approach at LHR and diverted to MAN, half way realised how desperate his fuel figure was and opted for BHX.

Looks like its quite busy down south, although its not a calm bed of roses up north either.

In addition to the TAP there were a couple of Easyjet A320's and a Ryanair from BRS earlier. More recently there has been a BA Cityflyer E190 and a Cityjet Dornier.

Currently inbound is an Easyjet A319 from BRS, a Ryanair from STN, an Aer Lingus ATR from BRS, a BA A320 from LHR and an Oman Air A330-300 from LHR. A Wizz A320 is currently over Coventry but the last one went up to LPL.

The Wizzair A320 is on finals with the Oman A333 behind, looks as if there is a KLM E190 from LHR inbound too. A Virgin A346 has gone up to NCL.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
