Lufthansa A321 D-AIRL diverted to MAN, it's due back at 15:15.

FR 24 also shows that G-JECI from BHD diverted to EMA.

I honestly thought our Monarch pilot was going to have to make a second attempt today - it was a very choppy landing indeed, and we seemed to have to come in much faster than usual - presumably to retain control in the powerful gusts.

With the diverts - interesting they went to airports only about 40-90 miles away. Is this because the unusual 15/33 orientation of the runways at Birmingham makes it trickier to land, given the prevailing winds come from the West/Southwest in the UK?

I might have seen your flight on FR24. Did you get the registration of the plane you travelled on?

An EI Regional ATR is currently holding over Redditch after a go around. A KLM 738 has just gone around and a Turkish 738 looks as if it's on it's way here from Dublin.

KLM and Turkish look to have got in okay EIR went around again though it looks as though it may be off to EMA. Flybe, Lufthansa, Ryanair and Air India are all on approach.

EI3274 has indeed gone to EMA. This afternoons Cork flight was canx and this evenings flight from Shannon has also been canx.

Wizz Air A320 just went around for the second time and looks to be heading north. Gusts are apparently +40 knots across the runway.

Wizz Air looks as though it's gone up to Liverpool. Flybe from Amsterdam and Emirates were both behind and managed to get in okay.

After a couple of goes and several circuits a Eurowings CRJ is back up to 35,000 feet over East Anglia heading towards the coast. I assume it's returning to DUS?

It looks as though we've only lost two so far, a Flybe ATR from IOM diverted to LPL and a Flybe Dash from ABZ just went straight to MAN.

This morning's flight from Cork has been cancelled again. It doesn't seem to be particularly windy right now where I live, so its probably due to conditions at Cork.

Watching FR24 and Eurowings CRJ D-ACNL has just departed, done a left hand circuit and is now landing again.

I wonder how if anyone knows the reason for this.
While in work last night we were told that a EWG flight had turned back after just a few minutes in the air.The reason we were given was due to a disruptive passenger.
On landing the aircraft was unloaded and the pax put in a holding lounge.however while this was going on the pilot decided he had had enough and took the decision to depart without the innocent pax.
I cannot confirm that this is what actually happened but it did create a problem for the ground staff having to explain to disgruntled passengers what was going on as well as sorting out hotel accommodation.
It would be interesting to see what the story is behind this and what the press would make of it.

Any more details on that Aberdeen diversion for G-JEDT? It landed with full fire service roll-out at Manchester, although no visible issues. As per FR24, it came straight into Manchester and hasn't moved since, so I'm guessing there was something other than weather that caused the issue.

If that's true then it doesn't sound good.

I was told it was a medical emergency although I'm not sure if that is accurate. You would have thought that if someone was that ill then they wouldn't have departed in the first place, unless they deteriorated very quickly?

I'm not sure, maybe one of the MAN forumers knows more?

Cancellations across the board for Aer Lingus Regional with the morning Cork flight (again) the latest to go after last night's flights to Dublin and Cork/Shannon were lost to the weather.

Added to the above we now have nearly all flights from Dublin showing as cancelled including Ryanair flights.

AA131 diverted to Gander in Newfoundland.

There is some Twitter speculation but I'd rather wait to hear the official reason.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
