Hi There

Just heard today that it is rumoured that Jet2.com are commencing flights to Alicante from 1st March , However after looking at their website and phoning them , they do not seem to know anything about it ... Has anyone else heard the same?

Thanks
Katya

At a wild guess this maybe just a charter flight been operated by Jet2 between Aberdeen and Alicante for say one offthe big 2 UK tour operators Thomson Holidays or Thomas Cook.

They do quite a bit of charter work using there spare aircraft all year round.

[textarea]Azerbaijan flights take off from Aberdeen Airport

Direct flights to Azerbaijan have been launched from Aberdeen Airport, the Evening Express reports. The Azerbaijan Airlines flights will operate each Tuesday and Sunday, with a flight time of six hours between the country’s capital, Baku, and Aberdeen.

The route is only the second direct flight to operate between the UK and Azerbaijan. A spokesman for the airline said: ‘Baku is the oil region capital of Caucasus and Aberdeen is the oil capital of Europe. This is a great opportunity to develop the relationship between the two regions.’

Oil capital of Europe or not, I can't see where the demand is for flights to Azerbaijan.

Rumours of contracts agreed by Jet2 for ground handling at ABZ, with a view to operate bucket and spade routes from next summer. Anyone heard any more?

heard a lot of rumors about jet2 tapping into more airports, Birmingham another one.

The Birmingham one seems the strongest rumour and it's close proximity to East Midlands means it's ideal for crew and engineer sharing.

I can't see the Aberdeen rumour coming to anything. It's too far from the airlines other bases for it to work successfully in my opinion.

Is it not a bit late for any new airports to be announced for next year however?

I agree Pug. I just don't think it will happen especially after a conversation I had with somebody today. There's definitely five new aircraft. Three for Manchester and two for Glasgow as has already been mentioned else where on this forum. So unless Jet2 have a miracle worker this just about confirms no new flights from Aberdeen (or Birmingham for that matter).

Hope it works for the airport the airport numbers have been stable for the last few years after hitting a peak before then

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
