But by whom?
Easyjet would only offer flights to where they already fly and Loganair/Eastern have nowhere near the capacity that is required.
I'd imagine eventually that Loganair would expand into Belfast City they may even use Stobart Air either under wet lease or franchise. And who knows Easyjet might be tempted by Leeds to Belfast.

Eastern Embraer 145 G-CHMR positioned in from Humberside this morning to operate the outbound Southampton flight.
The type is reputedley now a permenant fixture on this flight, replacing the Jetstream 41's.
Or, until things change once more :)
And they did this afternoon and evening with the Jetstream back operating the flights!

Credit where its due for Eastern Airways today for not cancelling any rotations.
  1. The Leeds based Airways BAe Jetsteam 41, G-MAJT looks to have gone tech overnight or early this morning as its still sat at Leeds now after going no where all day
  2. Embrear 145, G-CHMR was positioned in from Humberside AT 07:05 as "EZE032P" so to operate the "EZE60Y/61Y" Leeds - Southampton rotation, It then re-positioned back to Humbeside as "EZE033P" at 11:00
  3. BAe Jetstream 41, G-MAJU was then positioned in from Humberside at 14:10 this afternoon as "EZE031P" to take up operating this afternoons "EZE64Y/65Y" & "EZE66Y/67Y" Leeds - Southampton rotations.

Flybe have been messing around with there summer 2020 schedule.

The Leeds - Belfast City route has been slightly reduced with Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays reduced from 5x to 4x daily. Mondays, Fridays remain 5x x daily, Sunday 4x daily and Saturdays 3x daily.
The Leeds - Newquay route has been reduced from the 4x weekly to just 2x weekly on Wednesdays & Saturdays.

All flights remian operated by Dash 8-Q400 aircraft.

Meanwhile Eastern Airwyas haven't yet updated the schedule for the Leeds - Southampton route. So as things stand that will operate 3x daily Monday to Thursday, 2x daily Friday & 1x daily Sundays using BAe Jetstream 41 aircraft

I’ve got mixed feelings about this. I don’t want to see the airline go down with the consequent loss of routes and jobs but as a taxpayer am not too keen on bailing out the likes of Branson and the other wealthy backers who are unwilling to invest sufficient of their own money to save it. This would be yet another example of the taxpayer taking most of the risk (HS2 anybody?) with little guarantee the we’ll ever get a return on the investment.

I am 100% behind HS2 as long as it is done in its entirety, Our rail infrastructure is diabolical in this country. Look at France, Japan, China way way ahead of us in this area.
Another who not only backs HS2 a full supporter of HS3 (trans Pennine)
Regretfully HS2 gets bad press, because the original bill was far too low. How could Crossrail be costed at £16 Billion for 73 miles and HS2 over 4 times bigger come out at £38 Billion.
If you factor Crossrail now likley to have a cost overrun of 25% the £106 Billion for HS2 looks cheap.
I am hoping some of the lines closed in the 60's by Beeching will also get reopened, some are now walkways/cycle tracks, so easy to convert.
We certainly can learn from our overseas competitors, in Spain they can change the gauge on the rolling stock so it can run on bothe the AVE (high Speed) or the standard network, on in situations where a steep gradient, can change the gauge to cope.

Flybe maybe on the brink of collapse again as its looking like the new Chancellor has other ideas regards bailing out the airline, And it seems he dose not support reducing APD tax in next month's budget.

By all accounts Ryanair, Easyjet and other Airlines are in talks with UK airports with regards replacing some of the routes if Flybe do collapse.

Let's just hope that Jet2 pitch in with Belfast and Newquay then. I guess the Eastern Southampton would also get canned.

Why would Eastern Airway drop the Southampton route? Nothing to stop them just reopening there own website and operate it without the Flybe Franchise, just lile they use to do before hand.
Like you say I'm surely somebody will pick up the Belfast route. Jet2, Ryanair or Easy could all easily do it using A319,B737 type aircraft! I think mean problem for the airport would be replacing the Newquay route without the subsidy in place.

In the meantime Flybe continue to reduce their fleet and lease to a competitor:

Its the 5x ATR72-600's which Flybe purchased to operate franchise services for SAS which was based in Scandinavia. The franchise has been terminated and aircraft returned to the operator. G-FBXA & G-FBXB are being leased to Loganair, G-FBXC, G-FBXE have transferred onto Stobart Air's Irish registrar as EI-GPN & G-EGPP whilst G-FBXD has being withdrawn from service and gone to Toulouse.

Hopefully the government will find a way to support Flybe's internal routes. If we as tax payers were happy to see Northern rail get 29p for every KM a NR train travelles per passenger, its not beyond the wit to bring in a support system.
On a similar basis to NR each passenger, a LBA to SOU, air passenger, would get an allowance of around £110 each way , just shows how much rail is being supported by us tax payers.
Some huge decision that will upset some voters must be made, as students at one Oxford college who wrote demanding that the college sell it BP shares to save the planet found out this month, the Principal immediately responded that "Not possible to sell overnight, but he could turn off the central heating within the hour, to help the planet, please respond"
Should we openly support air routes to the far flung points of the U.K, I say yes, others may so no.

Been told today that there is a lot of noise coming out of Scotland to ensure there is no Flybe collapse and the loss of vital air links. Now that's an interesting statement for someone to make because that's potentially Loganair territory

Looks like the Government aren't going to fund the £100 million flybe bailout.

The future of airline could depend on what the Government dose with APD tax in next weeks budget.

For LBA you would think they will have been discussions with Jet2 & Eastern Airways to pick up the pieces if they do go belly up..

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
