Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

Someone on another forum has been told that the above flights to ALC and PMI will be operated by Small Planet airlines, who in turn are being contracted by the Monarch Group.

The plot thickens, but also routes to FAO and TFS have been mentioned.

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

New routes to be announced tomorrow.

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

Supposing the new routes are announced tomorrow, the question people might ask is "why couldn't the Manchester Airport Group ever achieve any growth when the new owners, Eastern Airways can?"

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

Two new routes 'announced' via Humberside Airport Travel's Facebook today, to PMI and ALC. Still unclear of operator, and not all of the routes have been announced...

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

It seems Thomas Cook have made a u turn now too, PMI and DLM back for next year..

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

DLM just been confirmed by HAT to operate every Friday, PMI will operate on Sundays.

Fingers crossed for FAO and TFS with the as yet unnamed operator.. Wonder if Olympic will change their mind about HER?

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

This is what I believe for the Summer 2013 departures so far:
Tuesday:
Palma - Small Planet Airlines
Alicante - Small Planet Airlines
Friday:
Dalaman - unknown airline, but probably Pegasus or Thomas Cook
Saturday:
Jersey - Flybe(if it is still going)
Sunday:
Palma - Orbest Orizonia(on behalf of Thomas Cook, also used to be Iberworld)
Bourgas - BH Air

Hopefully Crete will return, although looking unlikely, and Faro and Tenerife, maybe Malaga too!

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

It appears lowcostholidays may be branching out, and this doesnt have anythibg to d oi with Monarch afterall..

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

LCH specifically said 'Flights to Palma and Alicante are with Small Planet Airlines on behalf of the Monarch Group' so maybe LCH asked Monarch to be their flight partner who then in turn asked SPA to charter for them.

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

Yes, they are probably acting as little more than a broker. To be honest, after what happened on Friday at BHX I would hope Monarch dont really have alot to do with it. There is talk of them cancelling all contracts with 'sub-par' charter airlines, and Small Planet Airlines may well be grouped in with them..

Interestingly LCH are also responsible for easyjetholidays, so quite an established operator themselves. I think there may be more to come from them when schedules are finalised. HUY is clearly going to be one of their main departure points though.

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

lowcostholidays now advertising flights from Cardiff to Faro and Palma in summer 2013.

Wiki, not always the most reliable of sources, shows the carrier as Small Planet too, though according to it the season doesn't commence until the third week of July from CWL.

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

Are those CWL flights on a Monday?

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

Here is the plan for the Small Planet aircraft PMI based, which appears to be operating on behalf of lowcostholidays new venture..

Monday: Nothing
Tuesday: Palma - Humberside - Alacante - Humberside - Palma
Wednesday: Palma - Manchester - Palma (nothing after around 1-2pm)
Thursday: Palma - Newcastle - Palma - Belfast (May-Jul)/Cardiff (Jul-Sep) - Palma
Friday: Palma - Manchester - Palma - Glasgow (May-Jul)/Gatwick(Jul-Sep) - Palma
Saturday: Palma - Manchester - Palma - Cardiff (Jul-Sep only) - Palma
Sunday: Palma - Newcastle - Palma - Belfast (May-Jul)/Birmingham(Jul-Sep) - Palma

lowcostholidays has Faro on sale as a 'charter' (same as the above) on Sundays and it would appear that the aircraft is Faro based..

EDIT; after looking at the Lowcostholidays online brochure it appears that the FAO will be operating GLA-FAO-CWL-FAO-GLA using the aircraft that is to be GLA based.

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

Thank you for that, pug.

I've never dealt with lowcostholidays and am still unclear as to the company's precise role in all this although I note your suggestion in an earlier post that they may be acting as a broker.

They still havent formally announced anything, however it has become more clear that this appears to be a new venture by lowcostholidays.com in that they are chartering their own aircraft and selling the full package in-house. Interestingly (but by no means connected), lowcostholidays also operate easyjetholidays, so appear to have some influence in the industry. Reassuringly they are established, and hopefully we are seeing the begining of a new tour operator after all the consolidation in that sector in the past few years.

Adverts courtesy of Humberside Airport Travel have appeared in the local papers, and the lowcostholidays brand features heavily in them. So it could be one to watch.

Another one to watch is Eastern operating two daytrips to Cologne from HUY in December during the weekends, 50 seater so presumably using the ERJ145 or Saab2000. One of the flights is nearly full already, and 20 seats are already sold on the other. With the success of these then I wonder whether they will experiment with other such flights, maybe Innsbruck or Geneva on Saturdays for the Ski season?

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if HUY suddenly saw one or two ski charters popping up.. You never know Eastern may do this, reflecting FlyBe's model into Europe..?!

I have used lowcostholidays before and you had the typical option of just hotel or flight and hotel in a small package which would include transfers. We just used the hotel part of the website, but I must say we had no problems on what was a very good holiday about 5 years ago!

They tend to book through the airlines booking system and take commission if I remember correctly, instead of actually pre-booking a certain amount of seats on the aircraft, which is a more sensible way of it I say!

What sort of fares on the flights to Cologne?

As we know, Eastern tends to be a bit expensive on their scheduled routes.

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

What sort of fares on the flights to Cologne?

I believe it was £199 return. That price includes parking and breakfast at the airport, transfers and Champagne on the return flight.

I think a lower fare was being offered which didn't include the transfer.

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

Thank you. Sounds a pretty decent deal.

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

Thomas cook have Humberside to Tunisia for sale on their website. Flights appear to operate Fridays, with a gap in July for the Scottish school holidays. Operated by Nouvelair.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
