Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

Also more growth seems to be expected to be announced in the coming months..

Someone posted elsewhere that a new helicopter operator is rumoured..

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

There isn't anything on the Airport website yet. Is it going to happen? (sorry to be sceptical)

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

Humberside Airport Travel Facebook page are pushing the new flights well, particularly with regards to All Inclusive deals on the Thomas Cook flights. A friend of mine also said he looked on the website after hearing the news last week and found nothing, which is a shame. However, the new flights are on the HAT website..

http://www.humbersideairporttravel.co.uk/

To be honest I feel that they will be making a new website for HUY, afterall the new logo is up on the front of the terminal and in promotional emails, yet the website itself is still the MAG standardised one. Perhaps there arent so many hits on there? Even so, its free advertising for them and what does it take to just update the current website?

Jersey is now on sale with Flybe and they appear to still be working on attracting more growth for next year and we should watch this space I guess. The news article in my previous post also suggests Maderia for S13 July to September, nothing on Atlantic Holidays website for S13 yet, however could there be weekly flights TBA?

Flights to Alicante will return after a two-year absence as well as new flights to Maderia through July, August and September next year.

Paul Litten, Humberside Airport's commercial director, said: "We've made a commitment to grow the markets and improve the choice of services offered from Humberside Airport.

"This announcement, which comes after two months of hard work, is only the precursor to further growth in the coming months.

"This airport is a fantastic asset to the region which has been underused.

"However, everything we are currently working towards is focussed on increasing the destinations to give the one million people within an hour's drive of the airport greater choice."

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

I heard a rumour that Eastern Airways will be operating some new holiday flights. I can't see any strength in the rumour but it's interesting nonetheless and it's good to see something positive happening at the airport for once.

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

There has been rumour/speculation suggesting T3 may get a couple if 73classics to run some flights to Med destinations, however Im not sure such a model.will work for them.

Paul Litten has said hes focusing on the low cost airlines though...

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

Unsubstantiated rumours and speculation, nothing more.

Plus I think 732's would be out of the question.

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

Month total: 18001 -20%
Rolling year: 232,122 -14%, less than 50% of the airports peak passenger throughput 2002-2006.

AMS: 9950 -5%
ABZ: 3162 +31%
Oil Rigs: 4250 +15%

Not surprising to see large drops again as FR were operating their ALC flights throughout October last year, as well as other charters.

AMS down again is dissappointing (however there were some diversions to LBA and DSA in October) but significant increases on ABZ and Oil Rig flights are promising.

Fortunately, and barring the loss of a remaining service, the airport should see stability from now on, and small growth next summer. This of course is based upon what is already on sale, and it is believed there may be more growth to come.

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

KLM's hub and spoke operation is becoming increasingly important especially with the indecision of the UK government to sort out capacity problems at Heathrow.

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

It is, and they note this in the article above, a shame other airlines lack this committment. Interestingly capacity at HUY is the same now as at NWI and LBA, hopefully the 4th daily rotation will reappear soon.

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

More good news, Bond Offshore Helicopters are to return to HUY from January 2013..

http://corpjetfin.live.subhub.com/artic ... erenco-848

It appears this would mean Bristows, CHC and Bond all operating from HUY. This news comes on the back of the large growth rates in oil rig passengers over the last few months too.

Jobs hope as Humberside Airport lands £37m helicopter contract for North Sea oil flights

JOBS are set to be created at Humberside Airport thanks to the award of a significant new contract.

Bond Offshore Helicopters Ltd, one of the UK's leading providers of energy support services, has been awarded a new contract with Perenco Oil And Gas and has begun operating from Humberside Airport this week.

The new deal, worth about £37m, is for the provision of crew-change flights to Perenco's newly acquired assets in the southern North Sea and it is expected up to 15 posts will be created at the airport.

Paul Litten, Humberside Airport's head of business development, said the launch of the service now means the airport has three different operators servicing the requirements of the offshore industry in the Southern North Sea.

Mr Litten said: "We are delighted Bond has come to Humberside Airport.

"It is a significant investment and it means the airport continues to grow in importance for the offshore gas industry, which is a major employer locally.

"We will now have three of the biggest UK helicopter operators based at the airport."

Bond Offshore Helicopters, which specialises in providing offshore helicopter transportation services, will invest in a new office at the airport, which acts as a key piece of infrastructure for the gas industry.

According to Mr Litten, this focus on offshore workers has been key to the airport's growth.

Mr Litten said: "Humberside Airport is ideally located and we now have three large helicopter operators, which gives the offshore industry a great level of activity."

The airport's heliport sees about 1,000 helicopter flights carrying workers to and from the North Sea offshore gas platforms every single month.

Mr Litten said: "We are seeing a growth in almost 1,000 helicopter movements a month, so it is a really important part of the business."

Mr Litten said the airport sends at least 70,000 passenger journeys a year into the Southern North Sea.

Last year Manchester Airport Group (Mag) sold its 82.7 per cent shareholding in the airport to Lincolnshire-based Eastern Airways.

Mr Litten said: "The airport is expecting to see an increase in offshore movements.

"It is currently something we are keen to develop and the new owners are delighted with this news."

Luke Farajallah, managing director of Bond Offshore Helicopters, said: "This will be our first aircraft operating out of Humberside Airport and we very much look forward to further growth in order to establish a significant presence in the are.

"This is an exciting new win for us."

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

I am surprised no one has passed comment on the "new look" web site. I think that it looks more stylish than the previous MAG one and now includes Helicopter movements on the Arrivals/Departures page.

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

It does look better. That they read your location and tell you how far away you are in minutes on the homepage is a nice touch, even if they are a bit conservative on it :good:

I think they should make more use of the site to advertise KLM though, there are plenty of adverts for Eastern and Thomas Cook.

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

Rolling year 233687, -14.4%
15197 passengers in December 2012, up 7.4%

ABZ: 2007 -7%
AMS: 8444 -2%
CGN: 198
Oil Rigs: 2388 up 10%

Re: Humberside Airport - Thread

Despite the massive injection of public funding into HUY's neighbour the current difference in pax seems to be largely made up of the latter's eastern European flights!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
