I think it's changed to be LTN based for a while and then headed off to fortress Gatwick. It was planned for a while but clearly the plan has changed.

Although welcome, I do hope this isn't going to put off Air Arabia Maroc. After all, we know which airline people would have heard of when it comes to flying from winter sunshine.

I suspect it is to fight off Air Arabia. However, the Easyjet flights are Wed/Sat, the Air Arabia is Thu/Sun so no direct overlap.

I did expect this to happen, as the incumbents do tend to warn off new enterants, but I expected that person to be Ryanair against Air Arabia, by moving the LPL-AGA to MAN-AGA, and not because I don't want LPL to have the route, but because that is usually Ryanairs style.

It's cute that Malta making such a big deal of 1 extra flight a week to MAN.

Air Malta will be back flying on behalf of Thomson next summer, and I hear there is a good chance of seeing scheduled flights again, Frankfurt has already been reinstated (cut the same time as MAN). Perhaps this Easyjet expansion is pre empting that return......

Reported on anna.aero that Granada Airport has won 'Cake of the Week' for their celebrations of the inaugural MAN-GRX flight!

Looks like Easyjet adding an aircraft again next summer, as checked in August and there are 13 early departures on Mon/Sat/Sun so far.

Other days need 12 so could be some extra flights added, including new routes as Easyjet have not had a single year yet where no new routes have been announced.

Just tried to work out evening utilisation, bit more tricky with arrivals starting at 1915 and finishing at 0155.

It seems that 13 based are required on a Wednesday too, and this of course will roll into Thursday as they need to go back out again.

This means we are definately on 13 based, with that number required on Mon/Wed/Thu/Sat/Sun.

I'm not sure when the 13th based will kick in, I've not worked that out yet. This year the 12th based arrived around 21/22 July IIRC, so, it's not wide of the mark to assume it could be around the same dates again next year.

Liverpool also increases from 7 to 8 based aircraft. Someone may be able to correct me, but before Easyjet came to MAN, Easyjet based a maximum of 10 aircraft at LPL (may have been 9, as I can't remember if the 10th was based at DSA but using LPL crews?).

Even if it was 10 based, to now have 21 aircraft based in the North West is some impressive growth, and one the 2 airports should be proud of!

How do you know whether an aircraft will be based at the airport or if the route will be operated by an away based aircraft? Is it to do with the flight times, arrival/departure etc?

Good to see easyJet being consistent with growth.

Good question.

It's worked out by counting the number of departures and arrivals.

For me, I work it out on either how many leave first thing in the morning, without giving the aircraft time to come from somewhere else.

For example, there is a 0505 departure to Kephalonia next summer, clearly that aircraft has been in Manchester overnight, thus based.

There is a departure to Belfast at about 0815, but when you look, there is an arrival from BFS 30 minutes earlier, so, that aircraft has clearly come from BFS.

You can also count the late arrivals. Anything after say, 10pm is unlikely to be heading back out again until the next morning, so, will be based.

Another 9 would be better still should the monarchy fall !
No it wouldn't. It would be the very worst form of expansion. What an awful comment. They'd consolidate, reduce costs and employment, reduce competition and worst of all it would be the demise of an historic airline.

I said SHOULD the Monarchy fall
Please do not reconstruct My commnets and respin them.

I have no wish to see Monarch fail but nor do I wish to see dozens of flights disappear from the Manchester schedule!

If the best outcome is Easy taking over those flights so be it.

Dubrovnik will re-start in May 2018 rather than July like it did this year.

As you say, we only saw our 12th a/c in July last year. Are we any nearer to finding out what extra based a/c or new routes we may get next summer, or is the situation in the process of being reviewed in the light of Monarch's demise?

We will definately increase to 13 based but there are discussions ongoing to have 15 based.

The issue is T1 space, and it requires a carrier to have split based ops, and at the moment, and understandably, it needs a lot of ironing out first.

I imagine T1 is Terminal capacity at peak periods and not just parking stands. In terms of split based ops, could TCX possibly move its short haul to T2, and what would it take to persuade them? The problem is if MAN can't accommodate an extra 2 easyjet a/c, they are likely to place them elsewhere - at LPL perhaps, or maybe a new base at BHX?

Incidentally, who handled Monarch?

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
