I was doing some research. It seems that Ryanair will receive the last of their order for 210 x 737 800 Max's within the next couple of months.

I am sure we were told- or assumed, that the reason for slow expansion at Leeds was due to delayed deliveries.

Nothing to do with delivery delays. Always down to the deal on the table. For example, Tirana cheap deal and 4 based ac for S26

It makes you wonder if Jet2 perhaps have LBA over a barrell and threaten to pull flights if too much competition allowed. Don't get me wrong I don't believe it is that but there is certainly something currently stopping FR and U2 expansion. Probably nothing more than terminal capacity and stands but there is something

A Ryanair press release from January 2025:
“Ryanair’s new B737 aircraft, which cut CO2 emissions by 16% and noise by 40% (while carrying 4% more passengers), will be allocated to efficient, low-cost airports in EU countries where Govts are stimulating aviation growth, like Sweden, Italy, Spain, and Poland. There will be no growth in countries raising taxes, like the UK, France, and Germany.”

LPL, NCL, STN and MAN all have increased capacity with more based ac. All down to money. FR will always want more incentives to base MAX ac. On a side note it’s a J2 airport and always will be. Until that changes I personally believe growth will be stagnated across all airlines

Perhaps a consideration to Ryanair expansion at LBA at the moment is the delays to phase2. If the initial slot report was fully indicative, this would have pushed capacity massively. So maybe it will come when the development is more able to cope. They have added some capacity, was it not something like 128 departures in summer- which is still impressive.

I cant see a budget airline being bothered about the state of the terminal.

I never mentioned the state of the terminal @LBAYORKIE - let’s face it they’d fly from a shed. It’s the capacity- whilst works are ongoing it will impact capacity and flow. According to the initial slot report they were looking to add a ton of passengers 1053432 - so over a million. Therefore ongoing works may have been restrictive and hence delayed their decision.

I could be a doom monger and say no one will expand and we are stuck with what we’ve got, but I prefer my glass half full and I expect it will come a bit later.

Or if the security upgrades are delayed, maybe another based aircraft is a no go? I doubt Jet2 would have LBA over a barrel for any competition, its not like they're scared, every base they operate from has huge competition, FR/easy etc would no doubt add routes Jet2 wont do from LBA.

Looks like Ryanair have solved their scheduling conflict for Friday mornings this coming summer

The early Dublin flight has switched to being operated by a Dublin based aircraft, and the Poznan flight has taken that slot

No idea how this works with aircraft types, haven't looked

Previously: FR153 Dep 08:25 / FR152 Arr 10:55
Now: FR153 Dep 08:05 / FR152 Arr 07:05

Also I've been having a brief look at the booking engine - the scheduling in the lower summer season is something to behold - for example 5X weekly to Wroclaw in April! I will be very surprised if they all go out full, but I guess Ryanair must know what they're doing

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
