Hope some of you managed to see it in town.

I live on the southeastern edge of the city and saw the Vulcan from my garden. To be honest I'd forgotten all about it and was working in the garden when it appeared from the north west from the general direction of the city and then turned south west towards BRS. It must have then done its loop over the airport but I didn't see it again. There seemed to be a small escort aircraft with it.

A wonderful aircraft and I always think back to October 1962 when Vulcans, nuclear-armed, were parked at Filton with engines running at two minutes notice to take off re the Cuban missile crisis. Chilling!!

Great photos kraktoa - many thanks.

Also looks like Aer Lingus are laying on extra A320 flights as well over the weekend for extra capacity! So photographers, take 3 hot flasks, lunch and dinner!!! Also a VERY comfy chair at the 09 end!
Did this come to fruition in the end?

Further to previous posts on this, tomorrow's Mayfly is showing STK 3843, A 320 scheduled to depart BRS at 0945 for Cork. No doubt rugby related as the daily EIR ORK is a ATR 72 and runs later in the day.

There are also a few other rugby-related departures tomorrow with other airlines where the punters have stayed in the area overnight after today's match. Without doubt the Irish passengers will be much happier than the French travellers.

Nothing shown on today's Mayfly nor on the BRS website arrivals page.

Just had EI-DEJ A320 from Cork landing at BRS at approx 0837 and there is another A320 from Dublin due in at 1500 local. I was under the impression that these extra A320 flights were coming in yesterday but Aer Lingus changed their ops last minute then. Apologies all but there is definitely an A320 due in from Dublin in full Aer Lingus colours at 1500. If EI Ops change their mind again then you all have my permission to find me and I shall resign from this forum...... :good: :whiteflag:

Last night Thomson Tenerife was a 757. Only noticed when the passengers unloaded from the centre door of the aircraft. Is that a unique feature of this aircraft?

Is the 757 an infrequent visitor to Bristol? It's my favourite aircraft type, it will be a sad day when the type stops flying.

Most airlines operating the 757 will disembark from the middle door you will also find this with the larger wide body aircraft.

I have seen the steps on the forward do but that was due to a medical emergency.

Tom have had 2 based 757,s at BRS for years, CO used to operate a 757 from EWR and also TCX used to have the odd 757 on a W pattern to PMI in the summer.

I'm not sure how much longer TOM will have 757s to base at BRS. The third based aircraft this summer was a B 738.

The TOM 757s appear to be being phased out with Jethro's website seemingly suggesting they will all be gone by 2020.

If they are eventually replaced by 738s it will mean a loss of capacity unless a fourth 738 is based.

I think we'll see Thomson 757's at Bristol for a few years yet, by which time they may have the B739?

It was good to see Titan operate one of their 757's in yesterday on a Car manufacturers Charter to Munich. It will be back in tomorrow evening.

I haven't seen a Thomas cook 757 in Bristol for about 18 months or so now, but I think one may have come in during the summer to sub for a tech 321.

The baggage handlers will be pleased it's Titan as I think their 757 aircraft have a magic carpet loading system.

Noooo the magic carpet has to be one of the most temprimental things Boeing have thought of!

An excellent video taken on the day France played Ireland in the Rugby World Cup in Cardiff last month that shows a number of airlines rarely seen at BRS as well as numerous bizjets and the like.

Towards the end of the video it can be seen that the apron was rammed with parked airliners. The bizjets would have gone to the southern apron which is not shown in the video.

Friday 20 November 2015

Looking at the BRS website arrivals page I spotted a couple of non-regular visitors today.

At 1327 WX 9605 arrived from Dublin. Was presumably a CityJet ARJ 85 and was no doubt bringing the Leinster rugby team for a European Championship match with Bath tomorrow. In fact, I was at the airport briefly at lunchtime and noticed a coach with a banner saying it was the Leinster team bus.

At 1504 EZE 9605 arrived from Humberside. I don't know which type Eastern Airways used for this journey but it's a safe bet to say it brought the Hull City football team who are playing a Championship match against Bristol City tomorrow.

Hi Yokel! I hope youre good! The WX9605 was indeed for the Leinster rugby team and was an ARJ85 Reg EI-RJX and the EZE9605 was an Eastern Airways Embraer 145. I'm sorry I didnt get the reg for this one

Some new news tomorrow - should be good for the punters and spotters.

Just for this board please - otherwise I wont post!!

Many thanks and your comments noted, conns.

Santa Flights

Recent discussion in the BRS easyJet thread about easyJet flying from BRS to Kittila through the Santa season and on until late February for ski flights and it's been confirmed by posters that it's on behalf of tour companies. This led to a look at the Santa flights from BRS this year and, as usual, there are a good many.

Mayfly shows four this week:

Thomson B 757 to Kittila on Wednesday and Sunday and Small Planet A 320 to Ivalo on Wednesday and Friday.

Friday 15 January 2016

Mayfly shows Air Hop ATR72 from La Rochelle arriving at 1530. No doubt it's in connection with the Gloucester v La Rochelle European Challenge Cup (second tier European rugby union competition) match tomorrow afternoon.

Mayfly also shows Eastern Airways Jetstream41 from Durham Tees Valley arriving at 1610. It will be bringing the Middlesbrough football team and officials for tomorrow's Championship match at managerless Bristol City.

What a contrast between the current predicaments of the respective football teams and airports.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
