Could Westjet be about to announce EDI-Calgary? Icelandair to Keflavik also being rumoured.
Post automatically merged:

S23 Slots and planned EDI operations as per ACL. Although subject to change, things looking positive for next year.

New Routes/Carriers

Icelandair - Keflavik
DL - ATL
WS - Calgary
Freebird - Dalaman
South Wind Airlines - Antalya

Resumption of service

Scandanavian - Copenhagen.

Changes to frequency etc

Qatar - seats/slots is doubled which would suggest a double daily service.
WS - YYZ increased frequency
United - increased seats (likely to be the return of full season on ORD route)
AC - YYZ increased seats. Already confirmed increase to daily.
TK - IST increased seats. Larger aircraft on certain days or double or certain days.
VS - MCO decrease on route.
Wizz - reduced seats on Budapest and Gdańsk.
EK - Slots retained for S23. Appears to be 5 x weekly.

It's good to see some increases especially when the economy is showing signs of weakness. Fingers crossed they come to fruition.

Really positive to note the doubling of slots/seats by Qatar. They’ve had an amazing S22 and the route continues to perform very strongly into winter. Wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see them go double daily again given they have been operating for months with LF’s in the high 90’s. Also interesting to see EK retaining slots. Let’s Hope they do actually resume. Westjet starting Calgary is also a huge bonus along with increased frequency on YYZ route.

Could Edinburgh be Etihads next UK destination?
If this happens it would be a big development for EDI. The much rumoured return of EK hasnt happened YET. Is demand big enough to satisy potentially the three big ME carriers? It would certainly be a major coup to have all three operating to/from EDI. Surely QR would think again about operating double daily?

JetBlue

Could EDI be a new destination for JB from South Florida? It is no secret that discussions previously took place with EDI about future route opportunities using 321XLR aircraft.

Time will tell. It will be a good addition for the airport if they can pull that one off. Fingers crossed.

Marginal even on a A321XLR. Would be more dependent on Edinburgh originating traffic than e.g. New York or Boston. As VS have found, that market is soft. I would be surprised to see any FLL to Europe flights frim JB.

Personally i'd have thought that for a route like that JetBlue would be looking at wealthy American retirees holidaying in Scotland rather than Scots holidaying in Florida.

Been away for a few weeks so catching up.

JB have the ideal aircraft for a route to Edinburgh. JFK and BOS and possibly something to Florida would work.

JB have mentioned GLA in the past. The demand from EDI is not endless, particularly if the pound strengthens against the dollar. A GLA operation seems a better bet.

It’s clear for everyone to see that a majority of airlines want to be seen to offer services from the same airport as their competitor. EDI is a great example. Two big American carriers serving the airport and doing very well by all accounts. Jetblue could have opted to fly from LGW only but realised they have to have a presence at LHR. If/when they have the metal to expand further, I believe JB would chose EDI ahead of Glasgow. Management at EDI and the marketing strategy appears to be way better than GLA.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
