Are you able to say if it did turn out to be a good couple of weeks for EDI? Not seen anything announced publicly. With EDI management very confident of securing pre-clearance, could be a good couple of weeks ahead for EDI. I’m hearing (as of yesterday) that another US route is a strong possibility for S24. Sworn to secrecy….![]()
I’m led to believe that the airport has now been informed if the pre-clearance application is successful. The big question is when they announce publicly what the outcome is. 2025 is the likely start date so If pre-clearance has been secured you’d expect to hear about some changes to terminal layout etc very soon. We already know that the security area is being expanded and work is already underway. We also know terminal capacity is being reduced spring 2024, primarily due to the introduction of the latest next gen security scanners. As for new routes, I’d expect any announcement to potentially coincide with news about pre-clearance. The CEO remains very optimistic about further growth. Are you able to say if it did turn out to be a good couple of weeks for EDI? Not seen anything announced publicly.
EDI was selected as a candidate airport for pre-clearance in 2016 (source) so it should be fairly straightforward to be selected again. The harder bit is thereafter reaching an agreement between the two governments. The Irish agreement is here - with elections looming in both the UK and US, I can't imagine that such an agreement would be concluded quickly.I’m led to believe that the airport has now been informed if the pre-clearance application is successful. Icelandair
Another one to watch? Could FI be about to move along the M8 from GLA? They are holding slots at EDI for a daily service. Play entering the Glasgow market from the end of May. A timely replacement for GLA?

Could EDI be set for another TATL route? I wonder….
S24
Another TATL routes on the cards perhaps? Could be an exciting month for EDI.
I’ll have a punt at WestJet to YYZ with 737 MAX
AA to PHL? AC 7M8 to YHZ? DL to DTW or MSP? Icelandair meant to be announcing some new routes too: https://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/icelandair-highest-revenue-quarter-ever-163900618.htmlI wonder if the “rumoured” additional TATL route will be announced in the next few days? I wonder…..![]()

Yes sir. I had to hold mycalled it…![]()
TBH I don’t think a daily 737 will push anything over the edge. EDI should be able to cope just fine with both.Yes sir. I had to hold mythe other week when you suggested Toronto could return. I was tipped off about a substantial expansion. It certainly is. Excellent news. Air Canada won’t be happy!
Time will tell. I wouldn’t be surprised to see AC respond in some way. I don’t see any expansion from them from YYZ. The very obvious possible addition or response would be service to/from Vancouver.
