the leased in aircraft reg no ei fwa. its a sukhol ssj100 superjet. its cover for mx and bmi streatched their self a little with new routes. they will no doubt see how it performs when fleet replacement is done.

Was idly looking at FR24 a few minutes ago and I noticed that the inbound BM1868 from Dusseldorf was operated by a Cello Aviation Bae 146-200, G-RAJJ. FR24 shows it positioned in from BHX this afternoon to operate BRS-DUS-BRS.

Wikipedia ( I know it's not to be relied upon) , is listing a jersey charter service starting in July. Any info out there ?

I have a recollection that bmir was going to operate to JER on Saturdays last summer but I believe that would have been a scheduled service against Blue Islands. I can't remember them actually doing so though. Perhaps whoever put this on Wiki has carried it over from last summer.

Derry Airport is hoping that they might persuade bmi regional to begin routes from their BRS and BHX bases to LDY now that the airline is operating a PSO route from the Irish airport to Stansted.

I can't see BRS and BHX being PSO routes. If bmir was to charge its usual high fares on a BRS-LDY route I wonder how successful it would become. There might not be many takers but not that many might be needed if the fares are high. LDY is about 45 miles from BFS from where easyJet operates 17 return flights to BRS each week. LDY does seem a bit unlikely but you never know.

When Ryanair opened its BRS base in November 2007 Derry was amongst the first batch of routes with a daily service. Monthly average loads that winter were in the 60s giving monthly load factors of not much above 35%.

Unsurprisingly the route was quickly discontinued. I can't remember any other operator trying BRS-LDY.

Cagliari

Had an email from the airport today saying that Sardatur Holidays are offering £50 per person off their holidays on this bmir service. Might suggest that the holidays are not selling too well.

Sounds like pax take up low. That's flights once a week on Saturdays I persume. Is this a bmr flight or a total holiday charter.

Looking back at a post I did last October (see below) it seems it was possible to book flight only on the service from the time it was announced. Whether bmir started it and Sardatur Holidays took seats on it or vice versa I'm not sure.

Cagliari

Further to recent posts, it appears possible to book flight only on this service - I've done a test booking.

http://www.anna.aero/2017/02/01/bmi-regional-route-churn-slowing-down/

Whilst discussing bmi regional on another aviation forum I discovered this anna.aero article on the airline that was published earlier this year.

I've put it in the BRS thread because BRS is its biggest base (just, on seat availability - 17% with Munich next at 16%) and it's likely to get more exposure here.

The annual airline load factors are in line with what has been observed by members of this forum: in the range 53.7% to 54.6% in the years 2012 to 2016 with 2013 the odd year out at 49.1%. June and July are the best months for loads.

Not much more than half full doesn't seem that great but, bearing in mind the airline's often (usual?) high fares, it's probably working for them. Expansion means finding more routes that could sustain these sorts of fare levels unless, as they have on Derry-Stansted, they can get in on the PSO game.

They've been saying that for over a year. In April 2016 they were saying within the next 18 months and in June 2016 within the next 12-18 months. They are still saying that.

Reliability seems a serious issue with flight cancellations a regular feature. Whether the age of the small EJets is part of the problem is not clear.

Having flown on one recently, those ER4s are looking rather long in the tooth both inside and out. The low ceiling also means that anyone over about 1.8m/6' tall cannot stand up straight inside. Heaven only knows how some of the Bath Rugby forwards can even get on to those aircraft!

It would be great to see BM introduce larger jets at BRS, probably on the FRA/MUC routes as suggested in the Scotsman artcle. If in turn that extra capacity facilitates some pricing elasticity, particularly when connecting to LH flights, it will be a step in the right direction towards discouraging passengers from the M4 trek.

Weren't they due more E145s from HOP!? Maybe with new routes out of BHX and Derry the non delivery of those aircraft could've meant they've become overstretched with the fleet. Does BMI own it's aircraft or lease them? With new aircraft, any purchase would require a big capital layout and it may not be easy or quick for them to get new bigger aircraft not to mention the retraining it would require of pilots and crew.

I don't know whether they are owned or leased. Jethro's Air doesn't help with that.

Jethro shows the current complement to be 4 x E135s and 16 x 145s. The latter includes a 145 acquired on 17 May this year that formerly had a French registration and another due this month also apparently from France (Hop!?)

In addition Jethro shows ERJ170, reg OE-LMK, leased from People's Viennaline from 17 May this year which replaces a 145 (not one of the 16 above) that had a French registration. Not sure where the 170 is being used.

I think it's hightime they stop talking about it and take some action to modernise their fleet. The E jets seem a good fit however I do feel this is one of those stories that will continue to rumble on for sometime...

The BMI flight to FRA today BM1827 at 16.35 was cancelled while the DUS flight BM1863 departed at 13.52 instead of 12.35. MUC BM1847 departed an hour late at 18.15 while SN2058 departed late at 19.13 instead of 17.35.

According to a poster on the dried fruit forum from the 18th June to the 31st October BMI will no longer operate the Thursday morning BRS-FRA-BRS rotation.

A crj-200 of Backbone aviation has operated a Bmir flight to bologna today , is this a normal schedule ? Are bmir still suffering from lack of aircraft ? I see on another forum they have leased an emb. To Loganair , surely that will make things even worse ?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
