Bmi is adding a second daily Düsseldorf service this summer together with better timings to Paris and extra service to Munich on Monday and a new Sunday am service to Frankfurt .

Thanks again Marko.

I'm very surprised about DUS. The loads each month never seem great and I was expecting it to be axed rather than increased.

I can't think that Flybe's decision to axe the CWL-DUS route has played any part because Flybe's fares were always much less than bmir's whose customer base seems more business-orientated and willing (if not happily) to pay the sometimes eye-watering fares that airline charges.

Where did the information re DUS come from? Currently the booking engine is still showing only once daily excluding Saturdays when there is no service.

As you say, the timings for CDG are much better with the early morning rotation retained but with the afternoon one replaced by an evening rotation.

They sent an e-mail about that the other day, details also here on their website:

Many thanks tpm.

I checked the bmir website news releases but could find nothing and their timetable section is still showing once daily for DUS.

When it came to test booking for the coming summer I used Monday and Friday dates, assuming (obviously wrongly) that any increase would include these days.

I've now gone back and the double daily on Tues, Wed and Thurs is shown in the booking engine.

looks like bmi are expanding at BRS! in the booking engine now are Bern in Switzerland, Brno in Czech Republic and Jonokoping in Norway all bookable which now brings the total destinations served by BMI to 10. Not bad really!

sorry all! BMI website was a tad mis-leading and have jumped the gun here. These are not new destinations sorry. These are via connecting flights and not direct. Sorry all :whiteflag:

Thanks for that jfy1999. bmi regional is mainly a niche player with generally high fares, sometimes very high. Its load factors are often not much more than 50% on its 49-seat E145s but the scale of the fares seems to offset this.

If it acquires larger aircraft it's fascinating to think which routes it might be able to accommodate unless part of its strategy is to lower its fares.

I have often looked at using BMI Regional just to be able to get a flight on one of their E145s but the fares are so high, ridiculously high when compared to easyJet.

They always have been, even with it's previous owners.. To be fair though, the E145 is more geared to business flights as opposed to the larger aircraft, higher density flights demanded by low cost travel. Sometimes you can get a reasonable deal but you can't be too choosy with your departure times and dates.

bmi regional obviously realise that the BRS catchment is able to cope with these fares which is why the presence is relatively large. Bigger airports such as MAN and BHX already have other airlines operating to most of bmi regional's destinations so they had to look around for a smaller airport with the ability to make their routes viable.

I wonder though if the catchment could support larger aircraft at these sorts of fares.

Just out of interest, what are the ticket prices for Jersey, if any are available?

It's Saturday-only for a limited season and bmi regional return fares seem to be mainly £125.74 return for August and that part of July in which it operates.

I've shown the lowest type of fare for bmir as it does offer various levels with added benefits.

The competing Blue Islands fares for Saturdays in this period are broadly the same, around £121 return.

Both airlines offer 'extras' such as 20kg hand luggage and on board refreshments with bmir (for all levels of ticket), and included 20kg hold baggage allowance with BI.

Just a thought, is this operating for a holiday company?

It doesn't say it is on the BRS website press release and the flights are certainly bookable with bmir as 'stand alone' bookings.

bmir does operate weekly weekend summer charters from BRS for the likes of Inghams to such places as Verona and Bastia but these are never bookable on the bmir website and they've never been publicised as a bmir initiative, so I suspect that BRS-JER is a commercial venture for the airline.

Looks like they still have some work to do on the *A integration front. Currently in Thessaloniki flying back to Bristol via Munich and they weren't able to check me in on the MUC->BRS leg and issue me a boarding pass. Apparently I have to pick it up somewhere in Munich. Strange. Good thing I have some time between flights.

It's also a good thing that you are an experienced air traveller and can cope with this sort of thing. Some people would struggle. Let's hope the 'system' in such circumstances can be quickly made more user friendly

Another advertising initiative seems to be in place. I've noticed bmi regional adverts on some city buses and there is a large illuminated banner in the passenger subway at Temple Meads station.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
