I'm a year 2 student doing Aerospace Engineering with Pilot studies. I desperately want a job as a ticket handler for one of the airlines (Like at the check-in desks) however I don't have the slightest idea of how I go about doing that.

Need some urgent help as to how and where I can apply for these jobs! Helpppp!

Thanks in advance.

I am already employed at an airport and I've been employed for some years so it's not easy to say exactly what each company will be looking for but firstly you need to find out what handling companies operate at the airport and then write to them individually. I would tell them you are looking to pursue a career in the aviation industry and advise them that any experience however big or small would be thoroughly appreciated. If you get to an interview stage having some knowledge of how airports work may help. I would avoid sounding too geeky by sounding like a plane spotter. Although this might seem like a good attribute to have, some companies are put off by it because they think I can be a distraction.

Hopefully somebody who has recently got a job in check-in will be able to give you some more tips and remember not to use an e-mail address' like [email protected] etc.

I've checked most company's job opportunities already however I am hitting every dead end possible :(

Thanks for the interview tips, It'll be handy in the future If I'm ever lucky enough to land an interview (Hope you liked that)

I believe there are recruitment companies that deal with airports that you could give a try?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
