Safety First
We are being lied to, duped and deceived at every level.
Folks gradually lose interest, as the next big story unfolds, most will just believe anything that they are told by media sources, some will be defiant and need expert opinions to convince them, whilst those who can see through the illusion are labeled radicals and conspiracy nuts, and will never be enough in numbers to make any difference, that is the system.

I certainly agree that people quickly lose interest in any story that dominates the news headlines for a while. It's partly because the news media, especially 24 hours tv news these days, seem to become bored themselves and move on to something else. That does take the pressure off governments, public authorities or large conglomerates that might be trying to protect a vulnerable backside.

How many people, for instance, remember the Boeing 727 that was leased to TAG Angola Airlines being flown illegally out of Luanda in 2003? Two engineers, supposedly working on it, flew it out even though neither had a commercial pilot's licence. It's never been seen since so far as we know. All sorts of rumours persisted about that: terrorists taking the aircraft to use as a weapon in the future; sold for spares; crashed into the sea. In that incident all the aircraft communication systems were switched off too.

Have a vague memory of that 727 heist... good call !

Have you seen this
article-2582595-1C5CEEAA00000578-854_634x292.jpg

the article goes on to list the 634 runways that were accessible and capable of taking in a 777...

they need to find the one with the clothes factory,,!! sharpish.

There seems to be a slowly growing body of opinion in a number of quarters that the aircraft might indeed have landed safely somewhere.

It's certainly an increasingly intriguing conundrum but of course we must always bear in mind the people on the aircraft and their nearest and dearest.

Some interesting comments.

Taking the view that the aircraft was taken, either by the crew or by force, and has indeed landed somewhere the question must be why? Terrorist groups would want the maximum amount of publicity and I'd have expected claims within 24 hours or so. The same rumours of the 727 could apply here, a future terrorist weapon, broken up and sold for scrap, it's not like you can file down the VIN, do a quick re-spray and flog a 777 on. Another rumour I've seen suggested is 'they' could have been after someone or something on board. It all seems rather elaborate to simply kidnap someone, there would be far simpler ways to do it, so maybe a highly valuable or highly sensitive cargo load?

All pure speculation but the whole situation seems to get stranger by the day, as Mr Yokel quite rightly says thoughts should be with the pax and their families.

Indeed it is a sensitive situation, but we are not politicians and do not need to tone down in case of seeming insensitive, these families need closure, or the aircraft to be found, the official channels are clearly not keen on revealing it's fate just yet and you must wonder why ? There is an agenda of some description at work...
Who benefits ?.... to use the old conspiracy adage...

On another front, looking like war around the Black Sea !! NATO and the west need to tread carefully now, hence the much hyped freeze on foreign assets, with only a weeks notice to stick it under the mattress, what a joke...

I don't know if anybody has else has given this any thought but if the aircraft had taken off in the early hours of the morning it it would make it almost impossible to go west in complete darkness using the mountains to cloak the radar returns. Taking this into consideration, for the satellite to receive signals so long after the aircraft went missing suggests to me the aircraft is closer to home than people are thinking. I'm working on the lines of, it's within the satellite range reported but it could have flown for a longer period in darkness merely so it could make a visual approach to where it ended up? Thoughts anybody?

What time does it get light in Malaysia, Thailand etc at the moment?

Evening all..

I get your thinking Aviador, sort of just flew around a bit waiting for daylight to make a visual on some remote low-tech runway, type of thing !?. Is as plausible as anything else flying around out there, no pun intended.
Every visit to news sites i come across the "what we know" section regarding this event...
so what do we, we as in us here on this forum, what do we know about MH370 ? Nothing. Except what we are told. We know nothing and neither does anyone else.
So getting back to the news "what do we know" , we know that there was a Malaysian Airlines flight MH370, a 7772 ER that left for China and then disappeared,, or do we ? do we know that this actually even happened at all ?, we know what we have been told, but it would be very naive to bet your life on it, would it not..?
What about all the people and families , you may say ? well what do we know ?
Nothing.

One report claims the Malaysian officials now claim the aircraft flew through the airspace of three countries but they haven't said which three. Why not? Why withhold that sort of information despite them also claiming Australia is leading the search in the 'southern arch'? Either they know significantly more than what they are letting on or they just have absolutely no idea what they're doing.

On my local BBC radio station this morning (Bristol) a retired Concorde pilot suggested that a Singapore Airlines flight might have unwittingly been flying beneath the Malaysia Airlines aircraft and in effect hidden it from radar surveillance - a sort of Trojan horse was how he described it.

I only heard the end of the interview so did not fully grasp the technical details of how this would be possible.

Ah yes that's possible. The Malaysian aircraft will only have been giving a primary radar return, if any so no hight information will have been available. This effectively means the hight information (and a primary radar return) could have been provided from a second aircraft but it would have to be vertically aligned perfectly to disguises it properly.

I ain't Biggles but i'm of the persuasion that radar can determine whether it is getting a bounce off from one or two large aircraft, i reckon they would need to be in pretty tight formation for a single blip return. Retired pilots need some sort of story to feed the media BS machine.
I have narrowed it down to either: A. My dream scenario
B. Never happened at all, complete fictional event.

Anything else at this stage is a charade.

Malaysia Airlines plane: 'Credible sightings' of debris

There have been "credible sightings" of possible debris from Malaysia Airlines Boeing-777 aircraft, according to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA).

AMSA General Manager John Young said the objects were a "reasonable size" but "relatively indistinct".

I don't buy it...
The photos look like a few waves to me, light reflecting off surface of the water, pretty uniform in regards to the apparent wave movement surrounding it,, doesn't something moving with a current become aligned (lengthways) with the current so as to minimize drag ? (like when you throw a stick in the stream). There are several other areas in the picture that look similar. These are pics from satellite, not aircraft observation, so they are stills, not observed floating or moving.
Just my observations of the pics.

It has been growing more and more likely that a story like this would emerge, putting the location far enough away to justify the missing time....hence my previous statement "Anything else at this stage is a charade."

Why would a suicidal bloke, do it like this, ?
Something is not quite right

I watched a 20-minute segment on this incident on BBC News 24 at teatime today and it became evident that much caution is being exercised as to whether this is aircraft wreckage, from the Australian government people to various experts brought into the piece.

I'm wondering if it could have been a failed hijack attempt. With potentially both pilots incapacitated and nobody left to fly the plane?

Possibly.

Or it is nowhere near the 'Southern ocean' a hijacking that went right....

2 weeks on and and nothing ?
why does Uncle Sam not send drones to the area ? the Aussies have them too, surely a drone could loiter longer and do some good for a change.. But they are occupied in other more important roles,i presume, like groups of random people standing on street corners in dusty desert towns, those are easy 'targets' to find...

We are being lied to. Full Stop.

Malaysia's prime minister has announced that missing flight MH370 crashed in the southern Indian Ocean.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
