I understand there has been a 2 per cent rise in passenger load factors , however with a 3 percent reduction in available seats, results in 1 percent drop over last year.
Extra larger aircraft from Easyjet plus new routes should revert to growth as year progresses . Blue Air are adding PMI and AGP just looking to Ryanair now to come up with something new.

CAA stats were published this week for December 2017 and show 339,327 passengers used the terminal in the month, a rise of just 0.2% over December 2016. Atms were down 5.5% in December compared with the previous December.

The rolling 12-month total which is of course also the total for the calendar year of 2017 was given as 4,896,603, up 2.5% on the total for 2016. Atms for the year at 35,442 were down 7.5% compared with 2016.

i can see a figure on another web site with more LPL detail as 4901157 as Caa 2017 figues, the airports website is stating 4.95M. It's an improvement which ever, but really could do with a bit more commitment from the incumbent carriers.

Ill be doing my own update on Liverpool's statistics over the next couple of days.

The difference could well be due to certain airports having not supplied data to the CAA.

Similar to the discussion in the Manchester General Thread, Liverpool is in the shadows of Manchester airport and unless there are signs of significant room for expansion into other northern regions I can't see any of the major carriers venturing into other regions. It's a similar predicament for all the northern airports. Liverpool can still expand and capture a wider market by targeting airlines that don't serve Manchester. They have already started doing this with the likes of Air Blue. If alternative airlines can make a success of it the big players just might take note and look at other departure points.

Belfast City is blank on the CAAs website so that could contribute to the difference .

However the BHD figure for November was only 2,539 and October 3,066. There is also Jersey missing at around 9,000 but even that does not account for the difference.

As I said before I will be doing my full review when I'm back at "home base" and hopefully we may have an answer.

Another consideration is travellers wanting to use smaller airports like Liverpool Leeds/ Bradford , Humberside and Doncaster because if ease of use . Of course all these airport want and need to grow to serve their local communities, but they should remain quick and easy to transit. That is not always the case at Manchester.

Surely if travellers wanted to use an airport they would, quick and easy transits are
great if you can ,but from what I've seen price is the king.
Even KLM and EI struggled at LPL,takes a lot of passengers to keep a daily flight profitable.

KLM stopped the route from Liverpool because it was affecting it's Manchester service. It went from 3 per day increased to 4 per day to route cancelled . That isn't normal.

Please do tell where that little gem came from, absolute utter garbage.

I was told that it was that magic word that starts with a Y and ends with a D

From 2009 to 2011 roughly the period of KLM ops from LPL the passenger figures for KLM at MAN increased, hardly a flight that was being affected by competition down the road.

What you understand to be the case is just a spotters fantasy more suited to a caravelle related forum.

Facts are facts, mullion got it right.

Other than forum speculation we don't know that.

I find it very difficult to believe when we know some of the lowest populated areas of the country have managed to sustain a regular flight with KLM to Amsterdam. Liverpool is hardly a village or hamlet.

When easyJet are able to operate 12 flights per week to Amsterdam I certainly doubt KLM's withdrawal was due to lack of demand. Did easyJet start AMS before or after KLM left?

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
