Does anybody have the figures on how many seats between Birmingham and Dublin this year or next?

This is a very rough estimate as the schedule is 6 daily for Aer Lingus and Ryanair but there are periods where it's down to 5 daily. There is also the extra capacity during the Cheltenham Festival where we can have 18 inbounds in a single day.

EI 19x weekly A320 - 343,824
EIR 19x weekly ATR - 142,272
FR 38x weekly 738 - 746,928
Total 1,233,024

Find it amazing that after years of going unserved Madrid is in the top 20 on that list!

It's crazy to think that Madrid saw more pax than the likes of Las Palmas, Fuerteventura and Zakinthos.

Hello Everyone
I've been lurking but not posting (I forgot my login handle) and so to my point.
Let's be very careful about about projecting increases in Pax numbers at BHX or any other regional Airport for next year, including MAN.

There are economic Storm Clouds gathering over the whole of the UK at the moment and the UK Aviation Industry is especially vulnerable. Ian's comment above strikes a realistic chord. The Commercial achievement at BHX has been nothing short of a Miracle but lets see a bit less crowing about passenger numbers from Senior Executives and a slightly more reasoned approach, reflecting reality.

The airport team seem to have a good deal of business nous, I cannot imagine they do not scan Internet fora from time to time.

:nailbiting:

Oh dear. Best be nice then. Fora like this is a very useful resource. I have learned one heck of a lot from this forum. We all contribute differently depending on our interest and it comes together in a pretty good body of expertise, insight and vision. So they would be wise to pop in once in a while. Of course we may also think that we are completely bonkers..

Still no data for September.. Maybe Monday.

Birmingham Airport is celebrating its nineteenth consecutive month of record breaking growth having seen its busiest September on record.

In total 1,207,796 people were recorded travelling through the airport last month, up by 15.8% compared to the same month last year.

This means the airport has also recorded its fifth consecutive month this year in which it has handled over a million passengers.

Long haul saw very significant passenger growth rates, up by 21.5%, and short haul grew by 15.1% year-on-year.

Paul Kehoe, Chief Executive Officer at Birmingham Airport, said: “This is a very healthy growth rate year on year equating to almost 165,000 more passengers being served here. It gives us a strong start to the Autumn travel period.

“As we approach the Winter season we will commence a £100 million package of terminal works to improve the customer journey in time for the busy Summer 2017 period.”

Scheduled traffic accounted for 87% of the total passenger volume for September and saw a 27.1% growth compared to the same month last year. Charter traffic accounted for 13% of the total.

Middle Eastern, European, Caribbean and Asian destinations saw the greatest increase in passengers compared to the same month last year. This is due to a greater amount of airlines serving these regions from Birmingham Airport giving more destination choices and flight frequencies.

Scheduled destinations with significant year-on-year passenger growth were Madrid (+309.3%), Budapest (+179.2%) and Warsaw (+137.2%).

Charter destinations with significant growth were Fuerteventura (+89.4%), Skiathos (+80.5%), Gerona (+80.1%), Tenerife South (+53.6%) and Alicante (+38.1%).

Sorry 15.8% not 15.1% in my easier post. Thanks for copying the whole press release jfy.

Pretty significant growth. I was thinking kinda going maybe 12% last month. Given the growth here and at other regional airports the governments will be as bonkers as a Donald to go with just Heathrow.

Our biggest monthly growth rate of 2016, and more interesting, we have overtaken EDI in Pax levels this month (BHX 1.207m Vs Edi 1.191m) Does anyone know when this last happened?????

3 months left to go.....At +13.1% as an average yearly growth rate, we will be looking at BHX ending the year circa 11,550,000 pax

Those are some great numbers :)

With EK41/42 being 12 months old I thought the growth may slow a little (I would also have said around 12%).

Lets hope that October also passes the 1 million mark.

Rolling 12 months = 11,231,356 up 11.91%

September at 1,207,796 up 15.8% which is BHX’s second ever best month

11.5m for 2016 should now be reached ....

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
