Use theis prefix for new threads for Manchester Airport
I'm not too discouraged by the ME3 performance bearing in mind the introduction of WY and low fares to both stimulate the market in the attraction of a new destination to explore and grab market share. Going from the ME3 to the ME4 has led to an additional 5850 passengers being carried to that part of the world. We'd be talking potentially closer to 70% loads for EY and EK if WY wasn't around.

The US stats are only available up to December (makes the CAA look extremely fast in comparison!)

EY was also 2xA330 for most of may, with occasional B787's on the afternoon flight. I think the B787 ran for about a week, but, can't remember fully.

SV / 6,486 / (44) / A/L 147 / LF. 49.5% -4% (based on all B789?)
One or two flights were Boeing 777-300ERs. I would say that the Saudia figures for this time of year are extremely biased towards one direction. For example, in June, I think it was reported the inbound was near full but the outbound near empty? Saudia will hopefully increase going into the high season.

Quite crestfallen about the Middle East results, but May & June are quiet months. We had a new daily service starting, so not too bad.

ME3 to the ME4
Don't you mean ME5? ;)

It's also worth remembering the UK manager of Oman Air said that May/June load factors for the MAN flights were low, but WY were fully prepared for that and had accounted for such in the forecasts. He did go on to say July onwards had much better forward sales and expected to be nearly full on most flights.

I'm slightly disappointed in the SQ numbers to SIN, but on the flip side May has traditionally been a quiet month and the general year in year trend is in the right direction.

Looking west, IAH continues to gather strength. I assume this will strengthen over the summer season but let's see what the next few months hold.

Agreed. And I didn't think 58.4% was too bad for a new M.E. start up in a quiet month.

I'm afraid I'm away until the weekend with only mobile phone access so my stats will not be available until at least Sunday!

Slightly later than promised, but here is my analysis of May's CAA data:

Manchester Statistics - May 2017 (Part 1)

Destinations that are either new (no passengers since my records started in January 2005), or have not been served for a number of years - if the latter then the month and year of the last service is shown.

Muscat - This service started in May when 7,822 passengers were recorded.
Santa Clara in Cuba - Last served in October 2013 this route returned and had 2,413 passengers
Vigo - 2,768 passenger for the first time since my records started.
Stockholm Skavsta - appears for the first time since October 2006 when 181 passengers were shown. This month there were 1,520.

Just one domestic statistic is currently missing from the CAA report for May.

Inverness - in May 2016 this route carried 6,442

Moving monthly and annual figures - based on CAA statistics

CX - May.
In an earlier post I gave CX's LF as 98% based on only 24 sectors.

Data elsewhere suggests there were actually 26 sectors. If this is correct, the average load drops to 308 and the LF still a very healthy 90.5% assuming all flights were 340 seat B777s.

27 Million Passenger Milestone

MAG press release...

Manchester Airport has seen a record 27 million people pass through its three terminals in the last 12 months.

The UK’s third largest airport passed the milestone for the first time in its 79 year history. More than 2.75m passengers flew in and out of the airport in June – an increase of 9% on June 2016.

June saw the one year anniversary of the Hainan Airlines service to Beijing and it also saw Cathay Pacific increase its flights to Hong Kong to five per week.

Over the last year the UK’s third largest airport added a wealth of new routes, which helped reach the 27m passenger milestone. These include: Muscat (Oman Air), San Francisco (Thomas Cook Airlines and Virgin Atlantic), Boston (Virgin Atlantic and Thomas Cook Airlines), Los Angeles (Thomas Cook Airlines), Houston (Singapore Airlines), Riyadh (Saudia), Beijing (Hainan Airlines), Nuremberg (Ryanair), Casablanca (Royal Air Maroc) and Tobago (Thomas Cook Airlines).

Collette Roche, Acting Managing Director for Manchester Airport, said: “Passing 27 million passengers is another significant milestone for the airport.

“The last 12 months has seen a host of new long haul routes and as we move into the busy summer season we’re looking forward to welcoming even more passengers through our terminals.

“Our continued growth of passengers and destinations clearly highlights the role we play in UK aviation and as the global entry and exit point of the Northern Powerhouse. This is further reinforced by the strong financial results issued today by MAG.”

Due to the extra demand aircraft movements were also up in the last 12 months by 11%, meaning more than 200,000 planes took off and landed on the airport’s two full length runways.

Cargo also saw a boost with 10,952 tonnes carried - an increase of 7% on June 2016. It equates to a 12% year on year increase with the annual rolling tonnage now at 118,849.

The 27m passenger milestone has been met as MAG releases its 2016/17 financial results, which sees the UK’s largest airport group deliver a sixth consecutive year of growth. The last financial year saw Manchester Airport enter the European top 20 busiest airports, bolstering its position as the UK’s global gateway to and from the North. For the 12 months ending 31st March 2017 MAG saw growth across all of its airports with total passenger numbers for the year up to 55.9m, an increase of 7.7%.

This would have placed MAN at #18 in Europe as at 2016.

It may have overtaken Oslo, but is unlikely to have overtaken Palma de Mallorca. Moscow Domodevo fell sharply in 2016 - I cannot think of a reason why - but if that trend continues MAN has probably overtaken DME as well.

Interesting to note that some point later in the year, probably September, it will mark the fact that MAN would have added 10 million passengers in just 7 years.

Impressive feat!

That's what, the size of Edinburgh or Glasgow in ten years?! Using the existing facilities...

I'll add, if it is of interest, a monthly and annual passenger throughput to my statistics on Sunday and for future months.

It would be interesting to track key flows to places like Dubai, New York, Singapore etc.

Comparative passengers figures from 2007

Monthly Passengers - 2007 - 1,960,946
Monthly Passengers - 2017 - 2,501,791

Annual Total - 2007 - 7,834,005
Annual Total - 2017 - 9,983,843

Moving Annual Total - 2007 - 22,140,051
Moving Annual Total -2017 - 26,740,908

The 2017 figures are still missing Inverness passengers which would add approximately 6,000 to the total.

Unfortunately personal commitments limit the time that I have this month for doing a more detailed analysis (as requested by Dobbo), however I will try to have them finished in time for when the June figures are released by the CAA.

Just noticed that CAA have released initial report for June but very few airports, including Manchester, are published.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
