"The MAG Group of airports in the UK have also reported their cargo growth figures for July; East Midlands increased by 2.6% year on year to 27,856 tonnes, London Stansted was up 2.1% to 21,255 tonnes and there was a 20.6% improvement at Manchester to 12,059 tonnes.

The improvement in cargo at Manchester was down to the addition of more direct long-haul connections, such as Beijing, Singapore, Houston and Muscat."

Does anyone know when the July statistics will be released?

The initial CAA figures have been made available today, however Manchester is not included. The next scheduled release date is 25th August.

I take it your calculator let you down, I don't know LPL annual figure, but LBA is approx 3.8 million so that would be under 80%.
If you are going to brag about how "your airport" is doing, please get your figures correct. 😉

It's good to hear VS seem to be doing well in their core city market on a sample basis.

As noted, the numbers for the more marginal routes to SFO/BOS are of interest and it will be interesting to track the numbers to JFK/ATL over the winter months...

Summer Numbers Continue to Rise at Manchester Airport

Numbers continue to increase at the UK’s third biggest airport, as more than 3 million people passed through Manchester Airport in July.

It sees the airport’s annual rolling total reach 27.2 million people, a year-on-year increase of 12%. The rise in numbers coincides with the busiest day in the airport’s 79-year history.

As well as seeing the start of the summer holidays, July also saw work commence on the airport’s £1bn transformation programme, which is set to see Terminal 2 increase by 140%, offering passengers a wealth of new features and an improved experience when it opens in several years. The start of the works were marked by a visit from the Secretary of State for Transport, Rt Hon Chris Grayling MP. As well as launching the airport’s transformation, he also launched the UK’s national aviation strategy where he positioned Manchester as “the UK’s other hub airport.”

Collette Roche, interim MD of Manchester Airport, said: “As we enter the peak summer season I’d like to thank passengers for their continued commitment to Manchester Airport. We are matching this commitment through investment to make the airport better for passengers, airlines and the entire region.

“We hope that the start of the £1bn works help build excitement among all of our passengers about the future of Manchester Airport, with the vast majority of the improvements being delivered as early as 2019.

“Furthermore, it was incredibly pleasing to see the acknowledgement from government about the role Manchester Airport plays, and it being one of two key UK hubs, as it seeks to create a balanced and internationally competitive economy.”

To take all the 3 million passengers to their destinations, July saw an increase in aircraft movements by 6%, with more than 20,000 take offs and landings at the UK’s global gateway in the North.

Cargo also increased last month, with 12,059 tonnes carried, an increase of 21%, which sees the annual tonnage rise to 120,513.

MAG’s other airports also performed well last month. London Stansted Airport welcomed more than 2.5 million passengers. East Midlands Airport grew by 3.1% to serve 588,000 passengers in July and Bournemouth Airport grew 1.2% to 81,000.

For much of this year the published refresh dates have proved to be over optimistic by about a week.

CAA site shows an update as of today, however the majority of airports are still missing - including Manchester.

The next scheduled update is due on 8th September. Maybe we will get July and August figures at the same time.

Interesting chart showing how MAN punches (arguably) above its weight in the kangaroo market.

Obviously there is an enormous gap between London and everywhere else, meaning that there are more possibilities for direct/nonstop routes (I don't see MAN-PER anytime soon).

That MAN is nestled just behind CDG and ahead of FRA, FCO, DUB, AMS et al is pretty impressive. It would be interesting to see how much of this is inbound/outbound - and whether this is repeated for the NZ market - but goes to show that in some respects MAN is in the same category as the big boys.

July 2017 stats are out.

Not got time for a proper review but at a glance they look generally positive.
