A good start to the year with pax up 5.22%
Interesting that domestic increased 10%. I guess Southanpton and Exeter will have contributed to that. Freight doing well too.

How come MAN can get out the Jan pax figures when CAA haven't published Dec?

I suppose it's easy when you are just working on one set of data, whilst the CAA are doing 57. Anyway, the CAAdata is due on 16th February - which will keep a few of us busy for a number of days!! 😴

With the CAA data now being available, here is my take on the latest monthly statistics. Please remember that, for an unknown reason, there is always a difference between the total passenger figure in Table 9 and the separate figures from Tables 12.1, 12.2 and 12.3.

Amazing percentage increases on Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Singapore and Amman. Just below the top 25 for percentage change were Hong Kong at 24.38% and Bahrain at 22.68%

You can tell the effect of the Aer Lingus UK strikes with 15% increase in passenger numbers to Dublin!

Here is my take on the load-factors for a selection of routes. The calculations are taken by using movements from FR24 and Flightaware data, seating configuration from Planespotters.net and the flown passenger numbers from the CAA monthly reports. I accept that there may be minor errors, however the data is given to the best of my knowledge.

According to my daily logs it would seem that movements for February were just 1.17% up on the previous year.

Whilst the February statistical file is not yet available on the airport website I am pleased to be able to give the following update - the full chart will appear when I am able to post it, athough I am away until Sunday.

Movements: 13,470 plus 2.24% on February 2025
Terminal Passengers: 2,058,214 plus 2.29 on February 2025

Movements: 204,077 plus 3.19% moving annual total
Terminal Passengers: 32,241,787 plus 3.85% moving annual total

MAN don't seem to be rushing to get their March stats out.
Mind you, it's also the financial year end for MAG so I imagine they want to be
sure the data is correct.

I wouldn't hazard a guess as to how the March passenger figures will look. On the one hand the war; on the other the beginning of the Easter holidays for some schools giving a boost at the end of the month.

Still no MAG figures but ......

BHX – 986,281 up 4.09%

LHR – 6,645,184 up 6.83%

March 2025 saw the power outage at LHR so the figure this year is actually lower then March 2024 which is not a surprise with the war in the Middle East.

So up 0.77% in March 2026

Excellent figures Ian, allowing for the effect that the Middle East conflict must have imposed. I'm pleased to see that movements are basically inline with my own records (using FR24 data) that showed an increase of 3.84%

I'm away for a relaxing week in Northumberland, but have found time to calculate the February load-factors for my usual selection of routes. All figures are based upon the CAA data and the data from FR24/Flightaware.

Here is my take on the load-factors for various routes in March. As expected the Middle East crisis has had an effect on the ME routes.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
LBA: Albastar B737-800 EC-MUB positioning in tommorow afternoon from Gatwick 15:45 to operate a charter to Lourdes/Tarbes on Friday afternoon 14:00 AP7721 STC
I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
