Now the ski season is upon us we'll see Swiss use more Airbus A319, A320 and A321 aircraft, especially on weekends. Next weekend will see A321's in the morning and A320's in the afternoons.

Swiss have said that Birmingham will see the route switch to the C-Series from 2017.

MAN sees it in July 2016, then London City and Birmingham in 2017

Does that mean Helvetic will be moved off the route? Their 100-seat Fokker 100s seem the perfect size aircraft for the BHX operation (the CS100 will have 121 seats and the CS300 145 seats—7 more than an A319).

Swiss seem very flexible when it comes to aircraft size (they used an A319 this morning), so the fact we hardly ever see anything other than F100s outside half term holidays indicates that the numbers aren't brilliant.

This is a welcome move given their stagnation in the past, but can we get decent LF's on the larger aircraft?

Swiss will start using the C Series CS100 from 30th October 2016.

I've had a quick look at the start of November and they only operate on Saturday and Sunday, with it as you were during the week.

Will be great to see this brand new aircraft at BHX

The C-Series looks a weird aircraft. Windows look huge on it, looks like the sort of plane you would draw at school.

Great news!

Ha, I can see what you're saying User001.

I found a YouTube video on board a Swiss CS100. It's a beautiful aircraft inside and out!

It looks very spacious with Boeing-style cabin bins and large windows that would make flying enjoyable for, dare I say it, even those with mild claustrophobia. Hope to fly on one some day!

According to airlineroute.com Swiss will stop using the Avro RJ100 on 28th October 2017.
They will be using this aircraft type 6xweekly from BHX(I assume the evening LX424/5)until 27/10/2017.
Another aircraft type to start disappearing from our airports over the next few years.

C Series flights start tomorrow, FR24 is showing the morning as an A320 but the Swiss website still shows a CS100.

As is usual this time of year many of the weekend flights will see Airbus for the next couple of months with an A321 this Saturday.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
