What happened to Eastern Airways' planes? Or were they all leased?
Returned to the lessors i believe

This could be a good option for CWL, though a Ryanair base at CWL would be even better!
If i remember correctly though Ryanair has cut some routes like LeedsBradford to BVA so could be a challenge getting them to do it and the CEO of the airport mentioned Paris as a hub as well don't think Ryanair operates Beauvais as a hub.

They did, but the route has been ‘replaced’ with easyJet Europe operating from CDG

Facebook contributor has posted an article from Cardiff News on line, which states that CWL will be announcing future routes to European cities and possible new long haul routes. Nothing positive as to dates or destinations, but apparently confirmed by CWL spokesperson. We shall have to wait and see.

Its about the new an extra flights for 2026. Nothing new. I believe it's a post based off a WalesOnline article.

I thought as much. The same news seems to be popping up across the board. CWL must’ve done a New Year look ahead 2026 press release…

All news is good news 🙃

That page in particular looks like AI skimming legit news sources and posting soundbites/ summaries.
The more mentions on social media the better though

More to come they mentioned in the AF announcement. January is the time for people to book holidays and nothing yet?
I'd have thought any new routes announced from now on would be for the winter.

I've booked to go to Paris on the February AF flights.
It's tempting to start a new Air France thread, but
a) these flights (including the Tour De France and any specials that AF put on) may well just come and go without AF making a longer term commitment
b) AF and KLM are pretty much the same company these days, so we could arguably just rename the KLM thread to "AF/KLM"

There's no need for their own thread. They can be covered by the KLM thread and hopefully if they do launch a route to Cardiff in the future then the name can be updated. It's good to see them operating some flights from Cardiff (and I'm flying the route as well) and hopefully it leads to more and not end up a one off like Volotea was. I'd expect that the airport and hopefully the government will be lobbying them to reinstate Paris in time for the Tour de France.

There aren’t many options left. Ryanair, Easy, Aer Lingus (BHD - EDI - CWL), or we see Loganair back.
Apart from Ryanair, they all seem unlikely.
Tbh i think even Ryanair is unlikely for Edinburgh but if you look at the wording of the post it may not be Edinburgh they're talking about but possibly another route.

The reply from CWL states they are talking more than one airline, perhaps Paris could be on the horizon, or perhaps Loganair have realised their mistake leaving CWL, and had a change of heart. I know the usual reply from the airport to questions about routes, is as stated in the reply on X, but to say there may be positive news soon, there must be something going on negotiating wise.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
