I think we need to remember that with WizzAir we are now talking about 2 airline's with their own strategies within the group.
WizzAir Europe and WizzAir UK.
WizzAir UK does seem to want to take on Easyjet hence the rumours of them wanting to base at strong Easyjet bases like Manchester and Edinburgh and Gatwick

They are taking on Easyjet by operating Liverpool.

With respect, Liverpool should still be EXTREMELY worried that Wizzair is even thinking about Manchester having rebutted the idea for numerous years. It's not like Wizzair have come out and stated that the 4 A321s that were earmarked for Manchester will now be used in Liverpool, After all, easyJet did the same thing in ignoring Manchester and now look at the position regaeding the base sizes. My thinking is Wizzair have decided to postpone plans for a year or 2 only.

As i understand there were no actual routes mentioned, its quite possible it was all bluff to put the wind up other carriers from Manchester. I am hopeful Wizz will continue its steady expansion from Liverpool as it has done for many years now. This is what the north needs, a choice, not just Manchester Airport as a departure point.

Wizz are clearly looking to open a new base(s) in the UK as they have a lot of aircraft on order, they have talked / talking to various UK airports but have only publicly mentioned MAN / EDI / LGW but there will be other airports in the mix.
Watch this space !

I would expect Wizz to do at Liverpool as they have done at DSA, both airports are under the same management , it would be a logical move.

True does beg the question of why they haven't opened a base.

You only have to look at LTN with the amount of routes they operated from there with no base. Things changed and they opened the LTN base with G reg aircraft, the thing with that was UK has come out of Europe union and that altered rules for airlines also many other buisnesses as well.Wizz were dead against any base opening in the UK as they proved with LTN and the G reg aircraft. But any base they open must pay for itself or it will get closed, they are a bit ruthless on that one.You only have to look at Ryanair and Easyjet with both of them has registered aircraft to other coubtries.

I remember now the Wizz Uk came about due to Brexit

Wizz Air, the low-cost carrier in Central and Eastern Europe, has announced another new service to be added to its growing network from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) with flights to the Italian capital of Rome set to commence this summer.

Three times weekly flights are due to start on July 1, in time for the peak summer season departing on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and sees the return of flights to the Italian capital for the first time in more than two years.

This is the third new route from Liverpool to be announced in the past three weeks and adds to Wizz Air’s growing network by becoming its 13th route from LJLA.

This replaces the route which was provided most recently by Blue Air. Possibly Easyjet in the past, but I cant remember to be honest.

If Wizz were to set up a base both Paris and Berlin have been vacated by EasyJet .Milan is also unserved at present.
Finger's crossed! It does show Wizz are looking at other routes that aren't necessarily what it's known for.
Hoping eventually they'll launch Rome for Cardiff!

Yes, I'm hoping this is the beginning of different destinations from Wizz from Liverpool Airport. They are a pretty steadfast operator from Liverpool, gradually adding routes, Bougas was their last one, not too long ago. Im sure they will be a good operator for CFW too

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
