I recall sometime back Wizz saying they would be looking at opening some UK bases, potentially looking at operating flights to the Med as well as the usual Eastern European destinations. I wonder if they are any closer to doing that? I would think Liverpool will be a hot contender if it happens.

Craiova, Riga and Lublin cut from LPL. craiova already gone, Riga in March and Lublin ends in June.

WIZZ AIR ANNOUNCES THREE NEW ROUTES FROM LIVERPOOL TO ROMANIA

Wizz Air, one of Europe’s fastest growing airline groups including Wizz Air UK, today announces the launch of three new routes from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to the Romanian cities of Bucharest, Cluj and Iași.

With fares starting from just £23*, seats are on sale now and can be booked online at wizzair.com. The new services, which connect Liverpool with three of Romania’s most vibrant destinations will commence at the end of October 2018.

Wizz Air is bringing truly affordable travel opportunities to customers in the north-west of England, who now have the opportunity to explore seven destinations in Romania, Poland and Hungary on WIZZ’s low fare flights from Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

Including the new services announced today, Wizz Air now offers a total of 17 weekly flights from Liverpool, with more than 290,000 seats on sale in 2019 on flights to and from Liverpool. This represents nearly 17% growth compared to 2018, with the expansion of Wizz Air’s operations at Liverpool John Lennon Airport benefiting the region’s tourism, hospitality and aviation related industries.

2018 has been a significant year of growth for Wizz Air’s UK operations, following the launch of Wizz Air UK in May and the allocation of eight Airbus aircraft to the UK fleet.

Wizz Air Chief Corporate Officer, Owain Jones, said: “Wizz Air’s investment in the UK continues as we bring new flights to Liverpool John Lennon Airport, increasing our network of destinations for our customers in the North West to include some of Romania’s most historic and lively destinations. The new routes offer the perfect choice for a city break with a difference and access to Romania’s beautiful countryside. We are looking forward to welcoming even more customers travelling on our seven routes from Liverpool John Lennon Airport, as they experience WIZZ’s truly low fares and great service on board one of Europe’s youngest and most efficient aircraft fleets.”

Paul Winfield, Director of Aviation Development for Liverpool John Lennon Airport commented, “Wizz Air is well established in the North West having operated services from Liverpool for almost 14 years and we are delighted to see this latest phase of their development with these 3 new routes complimenting their existing 4 destinations currently served from Liverpool. There is a strong demand for flights between the North West and Romania, giving more passengers the opportunity to take advantage of our faster, easier, friendlier customer experience, where 93% of passengers currently pass through security in less than 5 minutes.

They are looking to compete with Blue Air on these routes, bar one, which is new. Its a good move however and cements Liverpool's relationship with Wizz. Blue are used to competing with them out of Luton, so will see.

Be nice to see Wizz expand to Med destinations from Liverpool like they do from Luton.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
