There's a post on SSC quoting an article in full from TheBusinessDesk about Ryanair at MAN. I'm not a member/subscriber for the Business Desk so I can't link the full article and I don't like to copy the post without the contributor's permission. Well worth a read.

It's very upbeat about MAN, listing the new winter routes and increased frequencies, and the Ryanair spokesman is expecting 33% growth at MAN next year (not sure if that 2016 or 2017).

There will be 10 based aircraft for summer 17, I've heard several different people say this now.

Also interesting that Manchester is now Ryanair's 10th largest base by volume, and they hope to get that to number 6 in 2017.

Not bad for an airline that initially walked away from MAN.

Now, if only MAG could lock in wizz. Hearing reports that a deal has now been done for initially 4 routes (Katowice, Gdansk, Sofia and Warsaw), but, I remain sceptical until such a time it's announced.

You are probably right to remain sceptical about Wizz. Weren't there suggestions last time MAN were reportedly in talks with them that they were using MAN as a lever for a better deal at LPL, or am I confusing it with another airline?

Great if it did come about, but if that were the initial 4 routes, it's a pity only one would be new - Katowice, although didn't Ryanair operate that for a while? Not sure where their bases are but couldn't they take on Blue Air (LPL) to Bucharest rather than Ryanair and EZY at MAN to Gdansk, Warsaw and Sofia. That said, maybe a couple of those routes could stand another 2 x weekly.

Well, in all the times there has been 'wizz are in talks with MAN', there has never really been information on actual routes, which, tends to suggest maybe things are getting a bit further this time.

Interesting to note that there doesn't seem to be any indication that these routes would be at the expense of LPL or DSA.

In terms of the routes:

Katowice is the only unserved route thus far.

Warsaw could be good as Wizz use Chopin, to which many prefer over Modlin so wizz could be onto a winner.

Sofia and Gdansk I'm confident can support more capacity.

I'd like to think Bucharest could be served, but, maybe wizz want to fight blue air 'one on one'. Bucharest will come to the fold eventually, not sure who with though.

There is no reason DSA or LPL can't continue in much the same way Jet2 coexist at both LBA and MAN with substantial operations at both airports. Manchester airport's larger catchment area will allow Wizz to serve routes that wouldn't otherwise work from LPL or DSA.

A few extra increases listed for the summer

Ibiza now 14 weekly, up from 7 weekly
Palma now 14 weekly up from 13 weekly
Faro now 16 weekly up from 13 weekly
Tenerife now 8 weekly up from 6 weekly
Lanzarote now 4 weekly up from 3 weekly

Spain and Portugal lapping up the extra attention, from MAN alone that's an extra 26 weekly flights to the area confirmed in the last 7 days alone. Who knows what else could be waiting in the wings, as other carriers struggling to meet demand, with Jet2 going 4 daily on Palma alone!

Thanks for that User001. The 3rd Faro flight seems to be Tues. and Sat. with Sun. now 2 x daily instead of just daily.

The web site still only showing daily for Ibiza though for some dates in June/July/Aug. I checked. Is the second flight on GDS or some such system and not yet loaded for booking?

The flights were on the website just 30 minutes ago, but seem to have been removed again.

I can't remember what the flight numbers were, but, they had standardised the times as an 0650 and 1955 departure from MAN every day.

Will see if they are still in GDS.

Web site showing in August 06.50 departures from MAN on Mon/Tues/Thurs with based a/c and a 10.05 on Saturday (also a based a/c I think). Wed/Fri has a 20.05 departure with a non-based a/c, likewise Sunday but slightly later at 20.30.

Has this changed (apart from 2 x daily showing briefly)?

New 3 weekly flight to Wroclaw from 31st October.

Been a while since we had a new route from Ryanair!

It was sarcasm Woody. It was referencing the fact we have had a flurry of routes, then a months ago before this one.

Ryanair's Kenny Jacobs has said that Luxemborg-Manchester will run in Summer 2017. Announcement in the autumn.

It's going to be a tricky one to judge.

Flybe will obviously offer the better frequency, but, Ryanair the brand and volume. Interesting times.

Yeah, it's untried from the UK regions, so no idea if two carriers will represent overkill.

Luxemborg has been tried from the regions.

Luxair used to serve LUX-MAN-DUB and return a few years ago.

Ryanair will launch SXF-MAN 2 months early, on Sept 1st instead of Oct 30ty due to strong forward sales.

Oslo-Moss/Rygge

This route seems to have been under threat for a while. Latest I heard was someone on the dried plum yesterday saying that RYG will be closed if Ryanair pull the plug on their base.

Ryanair will switch the Oslo Rygge flights to Oslo Torp from October 30th. Good news considering a lot of routes got cut all together.

Also, some late additions are now in the system. Effective tomorrow, both Palma and Alicante will increase from 14 to 17 weekly, with 3 daily flights on certain days.

Spain really showing solid growth this year!

Can't see a specific thread for Ryanair, but their Italy flights have been loaded for s2017.
Nothing showing new for MAN although LPL has a 2 x weekly Bari service. The frequencies on MAN's routes look similar to this year e.g. Bologna is 3 x weekly and Rome is 10 x weekly I think. Not checked Bergamo (for Milan) frequencies properly. I guess it's still early and things may still change.

Has anyone heard what Ryanair have planned generally for MAN in s2017? I assume the new German routes and Wroclaw starting this winter will follow through into the summer.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
