So more than likely only E jets and A320 series aircraft will only be able to use that bridge.

A320 is 125 fest long. E195 is 126 feet long. B737-800 is 129 feet long so not a lot of difference in them. I guess it all depends on how low the bridge can go in a short distance.

Some B737 family aircraft are smaller similar to the A319 size of 150 seat approx mark so that may fit.

It maybe possible with a re-alignment of the parking stands and the Anglesey of the aircraft on Stand.

The Apron lines were stretched several years ago which then allowed a B737-800 to be parked on Stand 12 and Stand 13 simultaneously.

I know it's not regular and generally only happens once a year but i'd have thought that the airport would want the bridge to be capable for a 737 700 in case KLM send one of them in ie during the Six Nations.

IF the other airbridge is to go on 9, it will be tight given the length of it. Stand 9's airbridge is the smallest of the 3 originals and in quite a tight space. The only possible way I think it might fit is to run it as shown in red from the exit of Gate 4.
Gate 9 is hardly ever used and the glass walkway running from the airbridge along the windows to the doors at Gate 4 is just wasted space. Block up the current door to Gate 9 airbridge, remove the glass wall to create more space in the area leading up to the end of the pier gates, and in Gate 4 itself (It can get quite tight for some flights).
I'm not entirely sure which of the stop markers (right or left) is currently used to stop aircraft. If it's the left one and that can fit a 737-800/A320 then that location of the airbridge may just work. I know A321's can fit on Stand 9 when the airbridge was in use, but I don't think it will freestanding as it would need to use the left stop marker in order to get the steps in, which I think would mean the tail over hanging. I could be wrong on that, not seen an A321 n Stand 9 at CWL for a while

It will be interesting to see how they do it but it has been suggested that it might not be fitted onto 9 but another stand elsewhere and apparently the work to fit it will be done in November.
I do believe i've seen Jet2 757s on stand 9 but not sure about A321s.

757's don't fit Stand 9, only 7 and 10. They are slightly longer then A321's.
A321's do, as My Travel used to use it.

Every aircraft that used Stand 9 over the last two years would have had to use the left stop marker. This is the only way the aircraft steps could have been manoeuvred on the front.

I think that the airbridge maybe too long for the location shown on the above diagram.

What is interesting in the photo that the width of the pier could be expanded on stilts if they really wanted too.

This would allow for a larger gate area for Stands 8L, 8R, 7R, 7L & 3.

In regards to works, then it will take time for the stand to be prepared ready for the new installation similar to what happened with Airbridge 7 as the concrete blocks would have to be removed and ground tarmac again.

I'm sure i've seen a photo of 2 Jet2 757s one on stand 10 and the other on 9 for charters to Rome.

Google maps satellite view for the airport now shows the new air-bridge and stands 7, 7L and 8R in place. Not sure when this was updated but it looks like it's quite recent.

Looking back through previous posts, has nobody considered the idea of a stand reconfiguration? There's often been talk of a limitation to the size of aircraft able to use various stands but a new layout might enable the option of more aircraft or larger aircraft?

Well it is possible they could do that. They did reconfigure the stands when the last one was installed and this one is bigger than the one that was taken down on stand 9 so whether they will change the angle of the stand or move it over could be a possibility!
This is the current layout now.

Since the removal of the old airbridge has any ground work taken place for the new bridge yet?
They were doing works when i flew to Anglesey at the end of last month. Idk how far they've progressed yet or when they will install the new bridge. I'm down the airport tomorrow so i'll try and get some more photos to see how it's progressing.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
