British Airways B744 (G-BYGD) - 21.5yrs old - arrived this afternoon from LHR for either maintenance or storage at BAMC
British Airways B772 (G-YMMI) - 19.5yrs old - arrived this afternoon from LHR for either maintenance or storage at BAMC.

I believe they’re for coming in for storage. Hopefully the 747 goes back to Heathrow and not across to St Athan when she flies again.

I would think the amount of aircraft arrived at St Athan this last week or so it will free up lots of parking at LHR and also the aircraft at CWL to add in. I would imagine BA will have aircraft across the world at different airports as well. Also parking at LHR would be a little easier as lots of aircraft from other countries will not be parked at LHR. I think the aircraft that went into ST Athan is a year older than the 1 that came into CWL.Years play a part in when a aircraft is disposed, but many other things come into play, and 1 of the main things is how many cycles it has done.Year wise would think towards the end of year G-BYGD to be retired

I don't know the reason why but CWL has had a visit from an RAF Airbus KC2 Voyager the military version of the A330 200. From photos online it appears to have gone to stand 7 and have the airbridge attached.

I'm not sure if there is still an army presence at St Athan, I noticed the flight arrived from Akrotiri, so it could be for service personnel at Saints. There was also a RAF 146, in today from Wick, was there a Government Minister visiting, or a member of Royalty? I expect some member will know. Quite a few movements today shown on SWAG, both at ST Athan and CWL.

St Athan is now under civilian control. Someone suggested that it could've been in connection with the repatriation of cruise passengers from Cuba but the flight i believe originated and then returned to Brize Norton.

This is from a Facebook group post so may not be 100%. Apparently BA will be flying aircraft into Cardiff, Bournemouth and Prestwick for storage on Sunday.

British Airways aircraft stored due to COVID-19 at CWL
4x arrivals today, 1x B744, 2x B772 & 1x B788. The current aircraft stored on top of the regular BAMC visitors are as follows:

B744 (G-BYGB) - 21 Mar 2020
B744 (G-CIVZ) - 17 Mar 2020
---
B772 (G-YMMI) - 17 Mar 2020
B772 (G-YMMO) - 21 Mar 2020
B772 (G-YMMP) - 21 Mar 2020
---

B788 (G-ZBJF) - 21 Mar 2020

Be interesting to see where they park them as surely Echo and BAMC can't take them all?

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
