RAF Typhoons escort foreign plane into Stansted Airport
That's how the Daily Telegraph reported today's incident whereby a Russian made Antonov An-26 cargo airliner from Latvia was escorted into Stansted airport having made a detour around London when it was meant to be heading to Birmingham.
The Telegraph reported that One Twitter user who monitors aircraft radio traffic claimed on Twitter: "I have just heard a warning go out 'if you do not respond to my orders immediately you will be shot down.'"
The article included what appears to be the sound recording of the fighter pilots transmission to the freighter aircraft.
