Thursday looking pretty grim as 'Storm Doris' breezes by the UK. Not had time to look in too much detail but MAN copping worst between 12.00-15.00 (Almost 50kt gusts straight across) While BHX for example forecast +50kt crosswind between 06.00-12.00

I see we've just lost a KLM to LPL where the gusts are 52 knots in rain but straight down the runway. Our latest was 260 degrees with gusts of 45 in heavy rain.

Oops. The KLM has just gone round at LPL too.

Flybe ERJ-175 has just gone around from Dusseldorf.

Icelandair is going to Liverpool (LPL)

Cobalt just departed safely.

KLM KL1081 is going to Leeds (LBA).

LH2500 from Munich has ascended to 18,000ft and heading east. (A320)

Yes, FI attempting LPL with latest gusts of 63 knots!! MAN a modest 43 knots and 3 flights already diverted.

FI to BHX got in at second attempt but they may not have such a wet runway.

Icelandair going around at Liverpool.

Lufthansa from Munich now at 27,000ft over Lincoln?

It looks as if Flybe from Dusseldorf might be heading to Leeds.
Icelandair looping back on the north side of Liverpool now.

Somebody told me years ago is that one of the reasons MAN has problems with wind shear and gusts when there is a strong west/north westerly blowing is the proximity, height and shape of Olympic House. Don't know whether that still holds. Perhaps they should demolish that as part of the TP.

AA734 to Philadelphia had an aborted take-off.

Flybe from Belfast is looping around the south of MAN (Wilmslow)

Icelandair is attempting Manchester again.

Flybe to Toulouse is the first departure since Cobalt.

EK17 approaching DAYNE and there are a couple of others heading towards MAN as well as two in the hold at ROSUN.
Another factor is this wind direction at MAN always brings heavy frequent showers and squalls which don't give a reasonable break for a/c to make approaches.

And yes, a big relief to see the FI get down. I wonder what the latest wind speed was. Well done that pilot.

Munich-Manchester is currently over Dusseldorf? Not sure what is happening with that one - been in the air for 03:35hrs

MAN-Singapore & Punta Cana are up safely.

Virgin 744 positioning from LGW is going around.

EasyJet from SXF going around. Ryanair from HAM got down.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
