This morning saw BA192 Houston-Heathrow divert to MAN due to holding times at LHR. Aircraft was B747-400 G-BNLN arrived 06:50 departed 10:21

Ooch. How many coaches are required for a 747-400 for the trip back to London?

Depends on the load. Could require up to 7 coaches if full. However, unsure whether they were needed, as Im sure it was only a splash and dash, so pax stayed onboard.

Looks like Manchester has had a few problems today. If anyone did notice, this is why....

[textarea]Whippet delays Manchester airport flights Manchester is the UK's fourth busiest airport

An escaped whippet forced a runway at Manchester airport to close on Saturday, managers have confirmed.

A flight from Turkey was diverted to Birmingham and a dozen other flights were delayed as airport staff spent 40 minutes chasing the animal.

The racing pedigree dog stole away during a walk and slipped past a manned access point into a cargo area.

An alarm was raised to stop take-offs and landings after the animal was spotted at 10:40 GMT.

Gary Brown, the airport's duty manager, said it took staff some time to catch the dog.

Does anyone know what is happening at MAN this afternoon?

A BMI Frankfurt-Manchester flight LH942 has just diverted into Liverpool after two missed approaches. There are also two BA Airbus aircraft holding...?!

Is it a crosswind? Every airport suffers from it when the wind is coming from the wrong direction!

[textarea]High winds cause Manchester Airport jet drama

High winds have caused disruption at Manchester Airport yesterday, with forecasters expecting the unsettled weather to continue into the new year the MEN reports Gusts of up to 50mph saw a plane abort two landing attempts, and then divert to Liverpool.

The pilot tried to twice land the Lufthansa plane, flying in from Frankfurt, this morning but decided to instead divert to Liverpool. After a brief stop to refuel, the aircraft returned to Manchester and landed safely at around 14:30.

This is the sort of headline you would expect to read about Leeds airport so it makes a change for another airport to get some stick for a change. Clearly the only "drama" is that of the media group who were responsible for writing the article in the first place. Utter drivel of course.

Thanks for that Aviador.

Jet2 seem to be having a difficulty with their scheduled 1300 departure to Tenerife as it has only just left, with a departure time of 1913. She isn't due back into MAN until 0415 tomorrow morning. The aircraft it G-LSAB.

I'm supposed to be flying from MAN tomorrow at 18:05 with EasyJet to Berlin, I'm slightly concerned re the weather, not just because of the snow, but fog has been forecast for all day tomorrow - has anyone any idea if the aircraft to Berlin from MAN is based there or is an inbound, I'm just a bit worried about it cancelling.

Looking at the manchester arrivals board, it looks asif it is an inbound flight as an ezy flight arrives in from Berlin at 17.35

Thanks, I just looked and it's giving an estimated departure time of 19:25, so an 80 minute delay, but it could be much worse.

...On the bright side, that's a couple of extra pints in that bar before departure.

I was just about to post this The Pole

I'm sure G-CELC had some maintenance done to her today as well, as this morning she was operating under a 'C' callsign and flew up to Newcastle and back!

Is there an issue at MAN currently? There seems to be a lot of aircraft holding at various locations, and I did hear one aircraft say they had enough fuel for 1 hour of holding?

ETD021 just left the hold to divert to EMA, EXS897, EXS2110 holding to the north, MON 581 holding to the West.
I heard there was an issue with the runway lights earlier, could this be the issue, as aircratf are still departing?

That could be it as the Emirates A380 has just departed.

As you said the Etihad has gone to EMA as he didn't have enough fuel to hold after his flight.

It looks like BA1394/SHT2V (Heathrow G-EUPN) is starting his approach.

EXS897 (Budapest G-CELC) / EXS2110 (Kitilla G-GDFC) / RYR3223 (Brussels EI-DWO) / RYR3219 (Milan EI-DCY) are all continuing to hold.

Whilst watching a Ryanair B738 has just departed and it looks as though G-CELC is heading in after the BA Airbus.

Looks like things are back on track. I think the Monarch diverted as well The Pole!

A Thomson and an EasyJet have just managed to make it out, before the stream of arrivals start again! :good:

I'm bewildered why aircraft from LGW opt for MAN over STN or was STN foggy too?

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
