I think BFS was in the same boat as DUB yesterday, so in no position to take that many widebody diverts.

In terms of Aer Lingus, MAN has always been their preferred diversion point for their DUB TATL fleet if SNN cannot take them. May be as its the closest option if Ireland are having issues. For the other carriers, such as Etihad and Turkish, they pass directly overhead MAN on their way to DUB so MAN has always been the diversion point so that they can drop on their way in.

AA290 JFK-DUB B757 N175AN is diverting to Manchester after a go-around at Dublin.

Manchester has taken in 2 diverts today.

First up was Thomas Cook Scandinavia B757-200 G-JMCE operating Vantaa-Gran Canaria. Had a technical issue and obviously TCX engineering is here.

Then we have just had LH410 MUC-JFK D-AIKR A330-300 diverted from over Ireland due to a medial situation.

Seems there are 2 Icelandair B757's on the ground at the moment.

Todays inbound FI440 went tech on stand, so a rescue aircraft was sent in this evening.

Manchester took in 3 diverts from Dublin today.

A6-EYP A330 EY41 AUH-DUB
EI-DEL A320 FCO-DUB

And technically a divert

EI-EVX B737 FR557 MAN-DUB returned to MAN.

Also as reported on the Leeds thread the outbound Jet2 Tenerife flight LS917 diverted to LBA shortly after departure from Manchester.

I don't normally read too much into dramatic headlines like that but on this occasion it doesn't look too far from the truth. It was a truly shocking day yesterday.

Well MAN was truly shocking again tonight and shown why it has a disgraceful reputation for diverts.

Refused VS26 A340-600, Oman Air A330 and CX38 B747-800F. Refused all other widebodies too barring BA234 B767 as it was an emergency.

It did however manage to grow some balls and accept 5 BA narrowbodies, but, a truly disgraceful situation again tonight and I for one hope mamagement get their asses kicked for refusing so many. The stands were there, the handling agents were there and the border control were there.

NCL managed 2 widebodies and BHX managed a few diverts despite half the runway being built upon. Shocking, just shocking. 3rd busiest UK airport, doesn't seem it tonight.

Its only accepting AA142 after an ear bashing from AA operations......

MAN told AA142 that there would be a handling delay so pilot told MAN where to go.

AA90 now diverting to MAN but has said they will nightstop so not bothered on delay.

AA90 diverting to MAN on full emergency. Rudder issues. B767-300. Asked for a very short descent.

I don't understand Manchester's attitude towards diverts these days, reading posts on other forums it seems lack of wide body stands was the first excuse, followed by lack of handling then lack of fuel, apparently the AA142 captain was less than impressed. I can remember not so long back when it was rare for Birmingham to accept a divert and Manchester looked to take anything and everything, it seems to be the other way round lately.

Well MAN seems to have redeemed itself slightly by accepting some later diversions desperate to get down. Even the MAG office staff got involved.

The issue of widebodies was a strange one, as at first the stands were not available but then miraculously were available to the point that the VS26 and CX38 were on the MAN arrivals boards. However it was too late by this point.

The AA142 was less than happy, but AA90 said it was landing at MAN whether MAN liked it or not. However its not just MAN getting a ticking off today, TAP is fuming with BHX today and Oman Air complaining they were rushed out and the runway work should have been halted.

Seems last night were just some exceptional circumstances that tested everyone to the limit.

I seem to recall reading about some runway work taking place at the moment. Not normally accepting diverts could be related to that.

Runway 23R is being re-surfaced overnight, however, a policy of suspending that work during bad weather was enforced from day 1.
Therefore said runway remained open last night.

G-VYGG A330MRTT has diverted in from Brize Norton as TOW2231 due to fog. Had held at brize for 2 hours.

RAF A330MRTT ZZ330 dropped in from BZZ on its way to PIK so it could swap crews with G-VYGG that diverted in earlier. 2 separate Voyagers in 1 day and a 3rd will be visiting on Friday in the guise of reg 1301 UAEAF.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
