Over the past ten years my wife and I have been on several TUI summer holidays to Switzerland from BRS and the carrier has been easyJet to Geneva.

On another occasion we used Brussels Airlines from BRS to BRU for a TUI break in Bruges.

It's worth remembering that because TUI doesn't operate a particular route from an airport they might still take seats on another airline's scheduled service for their holiday packages.

Just out of interest, do we have a confirmed fleet size for TUI out of Bristol for summer 22?
Things seem to be changing all the time with routes and frequencies and not just with TUI. I think the last figure I saw was five B738s (incl MAX) and one B788 which is due to be based fulltime this summer (unless something has changed) having been five days out of seven in pre-pandemic summers. As in the past it will operate a mix of long-haul and short-haul routes.

If anyone can correct me on this I would be grateful.

Interesting to see which short hauls the 787 do?

Turkey? Palma? Canaries?
This was the B788 schedule for summer 2022 as posted by Severn last November - my thanks to him.

Mon - CUN (Cancun)
Tue - PMI / SID (Palma / Sal, Cape Verde)
Wed - MLB (Melbourne Orlando)
Thu - AYT / DLM (Antalya / Dalaman)
Fri - CUN (Cancun)
Sat - MLB (Melbourne Orlando)
Sun - AYT / TFS (Antalya / Tenerife)

Previous summers have seen a B788 rostered for such short-haul routes as Larnaca and Dubrovnik.

What are those timings for AYT/TFS? imagine one would be a vile night flight
The B788 short-haul days are as follows. All timings local:

Tuesdays

Depart BRS 0730 arrive PMI 1050
Depart PMI 1205 arrive BRS 1330

Depart BRS 1515 arrive SID 1900
Depart SID 2015 arrive BRS 0335 (Wed)

Thursdays

Depart BRS 0750 arrive AYT 1405
Depart AYT 1520 arrive BRS 1755

Depart BRS 1925 arrive DLM 0130 (Fri)
Depart DLM 0245 arrive BRS 0510 (Fri)

Sundays

Depart BRS 0745 arrive AYT 1400
Depart AYT 1515 arrive BRS 1750

Depart BRS 1920 arrive TFS 2330
Depart TFS 0045 arrive BRS 0440 (Mon)

Currently peak summer sees:

Antalya 12 weekly departures - Jet2 5, easyJet 4, TUI 3
Dalaman 15 weekly departures - easyJet 6, Jet2 5, TUI 4
Tenerife South 17 weekly departures - Jet2 5, easyJet 5, Ryanair 4, TUI 3
Palma around 37 departures a week in total, with TUI, Jet2, easyJet and Ryanair

Many of these flights don't return until well into the early hours. I presume that the scheduling was based on the hope of a near normal peak summer. That might be over optimistic so there could well be some adjustments

Before the advent of low-cost airlines, the smaller regional airports relied mainly on regular IT charter flights for their passenger throughput. I can remember that at BRS in the 1980s it was not unusual to have up to six returning between 0500 and 0700, especially at weekends.

Does the Tui group book seats on Ryanair flights ? The reason I ask is that on the first page in the Tui webpage it gives the option of holidays to chania on Sundays ( Ryanair only flying) , girona (every day apart from Thursdays ) and Tenerife ( sat- only Ryanair and jet2). It’s been like that for weeks now but doesn’t then offer a holiday to book .

I don't think they do. They usually use Easyjet don't they?
The holidays in question might be for those areas but involve a coach ride from a different airport. I know that they offer Montenegro from Cardiff via their flight to Dubrovnik and then a coach.

II'm not aware of TUI using Ryanair either. They have certainly taken seats on easyJet in the past and probably still do, as did Thomas Cook.

The BRS summer 2019 timetable shows TUI operating to Chania on Tuesdays and the 2020 timetable which was published pre-pandemic also shows an intention to operate to Chania on Tuesdays (with Ryanair operating on different days to TUI in both years).

Marko points out the services this summer to Girona and Tenerife and as he says the only option would be Ryanair on the days in question.

TUI did fly to Girona on Tuesdays and Saturdays according to the BRS summer 2019 timetable with an intention to fly on Tuesdays according to the summer 2020 timetable. The only other carrier was Ryanair.

It's not as if previous years' services were inadvertently left on the TUI website unless Ryanair has been and is being used. I tried a quick Google search to see if TUI uses Ryanair for anything from anywhere but could find nothing. It wasn't an in-depth search.

I don't think Ryanair have ever allowed 3rd party bookings as part of a package. Any packages created using Ryanair flights are simply by the agent booking the Ryanair flight themselves rather than having a set allocation on flights. Stranger things have happened though when it comes to Ryanair!

TUI's first flight of the season to Keflavik (Reykjavik) operated today. I don't know how many passengers it took.

easyJet's next flight to KEF is tomorrow with the seat selector showing 152 of the 186 seats taken - 81.7% load factor at the moment then. It has to be hoped that TUI had a decent load.

Looks like all the 737s this summer will be max 8 s
How do we know that, Marko?

Incidentally, is the base complement this summer still five 737s (plus the 787)?

Many thanks for that.

A post has been submitted in the TUI Airline forum setting out the base complements across the airline for August Saturdays this year. BRS is shown as 3 x Max8s and 1 x 788 giving a total of 4 based aircraft.

My belief is that the base is 6 (5 x 737s although I'm not sure of the M8/738 split and 1 x 788).

A check with the current TUI timetable suggests this is so - the times shown are departure and arrival at BRS. Has there been a cull with the timetable yet to be updated?

0605-1120 Reus
0615-1200 Ibiza
0620-1220 Menorca
0750-1350 Palma
0755-1310 Verona
0940-0425 (Sun) Melbourne, Florida (788)
1245-2155 Kos
1335-0015 (Sun) Paphos
1420-0010 (Sun) Dalaman
1425-2325 Fuerteventura
1655-0215 (Sun) Rhodes

Unless there’s something coming , it’s definitely 6 based aircraft and according to a certain flight search engine it’s all 737 Max plus a 787.

A further post has been submitted in the TUI Arline forum listing all departures and aircraft type on the first Saturday morning in August. It shows the six departures listed in my post #1,598 above.

The five 737s are all shown as Max8s, which supports Marko's earlier post, plus the 788 to Florida.

According to this list the other Max8s are at Birmingham (2 out of 11 aircraft), Glasgow (1 out of 2), Gatwick (6 out of 16), Manchester (2 out of 17), Newcastle (1 out of 4).

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
