It's been mentioned on a certain social media site of total of 5 based aircraft next summer - 4 short haul and one long haul. Cannot see any evidence in the schedule for 5 but is there any truth in the suggestion ( more to come?)

Time will tell if that happens. I can see the 788 being based all week,with it not far off that for this summer.

Would that be 4 737's and a 788? They will need another LH route for that surely.. is Cancun one a week next year or two do we know. I saw something in a brochure that suggested sat and sun flights

As things stand summer 2018 has four consecutive days of work for the 787-8 each week.

This summer, as last, there are two B757-200s and a B 737-800 based. All the 757s are due to leave the TOM fleet in 2019-2020 according to Jethro's Fleet Listings, so what summer 2018 will bring in terms of aircraft types remains to be seen but I've heard nothing that suggests that the two 757s won't still be at BRS then.

I read some where that brs would be about the last base in uk to base and operate the 757. To change aircraft to 737 from 757 is a huge loss of seats over the year. They could use the 788 on some of the short haul routes. They used the 767 on palma a few years ago so never say never with any thing airlines say or do.

I think they use widebodies for short haul at LGW and MAN. It does depend on what replaces the 757s. They so have 20 MAX 9s on order and they have 220 seats maximum so it's possible BRS could end up with 3 or 4 of them.

Having looked in greater detail at the holidays/flights on sale via Thomson Holidays, here are the flights that are currently listed as TBA as the operator. All are W pattern flights unless shown

I would hazard a guess that the Turkey flights will be operated by Freebird and the Spanish/Canaries flights will be operated by Air Europa. This could be what's lead to the rumour on another forum about 737 maintenance. Although the rumour did say based maintenance.
The Saturday PMI flight has always been operated by TOM's own aircraft, but it seems this has been replaced by ALC at 0855. Strange that the PMI flight still showing based a/c timings.
In total it's 50 flights per week showing on TOM's own aircraft. The only W pattern on TOM metal is Sundays FAO flight, and I suspect SSH may disappear as a Thursday PM has 4 route options along with LPA, HER and ACE.
For Thomson Holidays it's a total of 59 flight options from BRS.

The 757's will likely be around in BRS for as long as possible, not only for the extra seats but also the better runway performance for certain routes.

In summer 2017 the Friday DLM is being operated by Freebird (A320) and the Friday Palma by Aer Europa (B737), unless the latter is a temporary arrangement for early May until the based TOM B738 arrives (see below).

Looking at Mayfly for the coming week on Tuesday afternoon three TOM 757s arrive between 1405 and 1510 from Zakynthos, Palma and Kos. They depart between 1635 and 1620 to Tenerife, Palma and Santorini. The Palma aircraft appears to be on a 'W' working.

However, from mid-May there will be no TOM flight to TFS so the B757 that operates to TFS in early May will presumably do other work instead. TOM, from its timetable, appears to be using the Thomas Cook Monday afternoon TFS flight from mid-May. TOM's Friday flight to TFS remains.

Last summer the 2 x weekly TFS was operated by a BRS-based TOM B738 which is not shown in Mayfly for the coming week. In summer 2016 it arrived to begin operations around the third week in May.

Looking at summer 2016 the based B738 operated to Thessalonika, Dalaman, Tenerife,Fuerteventura, Larnaca, Ibiza, Bodrum, Naples, Pula, Las Palmas, Arrecife and Heraklion.

I did notice a 757 change over. The 757 from cfu comes in I think about 30 mins after the cfu flight has departed.

The dreamliner didn't fly last sunday, it starts this saturday to Orlando and Cancun on sunday

Mayfly shows the B787 arriving from NCL as TOM 644F (presumably no passengers) at 0800 on Saturday 6 May.

It departs for CUN as TOM 644 at 1000 that day and returns from CUN as TOM 645F (presumably no passengers) at 0740 on Sunday 7 May before departing for SFB as TOM 374 at 1130 that day.

The first B788-operated Bristol-Cancun departed this morning. Aircraft is G-TUIG (Edie).

Departed 1009 (sched 1000) with an eta 1348 local (7 minutes early). Departed on runway 09 and routed via South Wales leaving the UK to the north-east of Fishguard before overflying southern Ireland and reaching the Atlantic coast overhead the Dingle Peninsula.

Currently over the Atlantic at 39,000', 950 km into the 7,800 km journey. Stats courtesy of Flightradar24.

Yes had a look at them, very good. From the vids it seem to have had no problem on departing and getting into to the air quite promptly, so as long as there was a good passenger load and not to many empty seat opps from bri should not be a problem.

No freight, must have a higher pax density than a legacy airline, but maybe less luggage than such an airline
