Got to hope the airport doesn't see a massive cull in flights with the takeover happening realistically you would think only 2/3 of the routes would get potentially filled by other carriers if Virgin/Flybe left town.

The only 2/3 routes that would be filled are the sun routes. Let's hope it doesn't come to this.

Desperate news for the DSA loosing Flybe, not sure where the airport goes from here to be honest.

Flybe came in and gave the airport a much needed boost however those routes they brought look very unlikely to be filled in the main.

Don't think the fat lady has sung just yet...

hope its not too bad for DSA

At the moment it looks like Amsterdam will be daily and Belfast 4 weekly for the winter

Just tried this on the website and it wasn't bookable the same with Belfast. Are you getting this info from a source or the website?
Timetable on their website and the other forum.
Put the date in first then the airports.

As to be expected DSA has lost quite a bit of its schedule with little hope of any other airline taking over from Flybe, being located where the airport is it is very difficult to see it every really attracting the airlines or routes to move forward.

With Peel owning Liverpool maybe they might try and do a deal with Easyjet?

Bit close to NCL for Easy jet to operate. Easy jet are finding it hard out of NCL and I think they don't want to put pressure or more on NCL base.

I don't think NCL would deter EasyJet at DSA, but the proximity of Easy at MAN would make it difficult, plus Jet2 at LBA.

Lots of good compition over that way and so many different type of holidays and services.

I think it would depend on what DSA offered Easyjet and I don't think they would be scared by Jet2 but they do operate quite a few city routes. Southend could be a good marker in what they might consider offering.

Not so much East although Humberside is obviously still competition but North ,South and West there are major airports for the traveling public to choose from with all the major airlines at two or more of those airports I don't see the logical answer for DSA apart from Wizz basing however that won't bring back the domestic routes that have gone and will be harder than ever to replace. The worry going forward is what next summer holds once again the fight to land an airline or two and some stability after losing routes and an airline begins it was hard worker getting Flybe and the destinations they offered it will be far harder and near on impossible now.

I would remind everyone that Peel are a property develoment company first and foremost and their airport interests are secondary to that.
They are very good at developing their assets over a period of time but the end result at their airports usually means selling their portfolio in some form or other.

In the case of Speke (Liverpool) they bought many miles of old waterfront land and are now selling that land off for development. It is a slow but profitable business.
Remember Sheffield City airport? It seems that is now being developed successfully as a business park.
Teesside (MME) is now virtually shut but the first tranche of airport land has now been sold off for housing.
DSA now has a much improved road (and rail?) infrastructure by virtue of shedloads EU money. Watch this space.

What I am saying is that Peel most certainly play a long game with their portfolios but that is the way that all property developers operate so who knows what the end result will be at DSA, which, with all its land and long runway, was probably bought for peanuts in the first place.

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
