There is also this application with the CAAC from China Southern, it doesn't say which London airport.

There is also this application with the CAAC from China Southern, it doesn't say which London airport.

Will be interesting to see how this one works out. BA couldn't make it work from LHR - even with their transit traffic which Air China won't have from Gatwick.

Air China from November 2019 is launching Shanghai Pu Dong – London Gatwick service, as the carrier opened reservation for this Airbus A350-900XWB-operating flight. The airline plans to operate this route 4 times a week, effective 02NOV19.

Gatwick had started to get on a roll with long haul routes pre-covid, then lost them all when we went into lockdown.

Seems their getting back on track with Saudia recently and now this.
