I think that most people will not be surprised at this news. Pax want rock bottom fares, so the airlines have to get their money from somewhere.

Yes unfortunatley if you want to sit together then you have to pay.

Not necessarily so. On our recent trip to Portugal, we did not pay but were seated together by Jet2.
