LPL received 40 diversions between Oct and DEC, 31 from Leeds/Bradford, 1 from Warton , 1 from IOM , 4 from Manchester, 3 from Gatwick and 1 from Luton.

3 diverts away to East Midlands and Bristol, plus an IOM service that returned to the island.

So here on the LBA forum some members get very negative about LBA suffering with weather in winter. Now 31 diverts to LPL, admittedly not the only airport to receive them, is not a high % of all flights for a full quarter. Yes it’s still fairly high but LBA gets a far worse name than is fair. It’s been well documented that airlines operating from LBA will factor in weather risks. I remember well before LBA became as successful as it is now how many BA 111 diverts we received from MAN, amongst others. LBA is to some extent now a victim of its own success, but equally from time to time that clearly works to LPLs advantage. With advances in technology probably fewer diverts away from all airports than there used to be. Anyone have any comparable figures?

It’s not being negative just pointing out the diversions. LBA is the highest airport so suffers from weather more than others.
I think there were a few Wizz Air, Also.
Them aswell.

A couple of diverts from Manchester last night very late / early hours. Any Easyjet from Berlin and a Ryanair from Dublin. Not sure what the issue was.

EZY 9011 and FR 562

The shortage was due a controller down due illness and not being able to get extra member of staff in to cover

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
