I've notice that the Blue Islands web site now has Liverpool featured as Southend for their new routes from Guernsey. The Liverpool service begins in May.

Blue Islands brings flights to Guernsey from LJLA for Summer 2019

Blue Islands, the privately and independently owned Channel Islands based regional airline has announced today that it will commence a twice weekly service from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) to Guernsey for Summer 2019.

Flights will commence on 21st May operating on Tuesdays and Saturdays until 14th September, using a 68 seat ATR 72-500 aircraft.

As a Flybe franchise partner, flights are now on sale via flybe.com with a special launch offer of all ‘Just Fly’ seats on sale at just £29.99 one way, until 30th January 2019.

Rob Veron, Blue Islands CEO commented, “As a Channel Islands based airline, Blue Islands is proud to launch a new direct service from Liverpool to Guernsey, making it easier to discover our beautiful island from the North West. Equally, the twice weekly service offers Guernsey residents the chance to visit Liverpool, an exciting city which is bursting with culture, history and also a World Heritage Site.”

Paul Winfield, Director of Aviation Development for LJLA added, “We’re delighted to see another new airline choose to operate from Liverpool and look forward to Blue Islands commencing flights to Guernsey from here.

Blue Islands today launched its inaugural Guernsey flight from Liverpool John Lennon Airport establishing a new twice-weekly connection to the island from the North West’s Faster, Easier, Friendlier Airport.

To mark the occasion of the first flight, staff at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, celebrated the arrival of the Blue Islands aircraft with a traditional water cannon ‘aircraft baptism’ with arriving passengers from Guernsey greeted by representatives from Marketing Liverpool.
Paul Winfield, Director of Aviation Development for LJLA commented, “We’re delighted to welcome Blue Islands to Liverpool for the first time today as they become the latest operator to join the growing list of airlines operating from Liverpool.

Guernsey is another fantastic destination to be served from here, giving the region’s travellers the opportunity to travel to this beautiful Channel Island direct from Liverpool, the North West’s Faster Easier Friendlier airport.”

Rob Veron, CEO Blue Islands added, “Islanders can now enjoy direct connections to the cultural city of Liverpool, as well as the Lake District and North Wales and a lower cost alternative to Aurigny’s Manchester service. What’s more the new route will also be a boost for inbound tourism to Guernsey.”
Blue Islands is a Flybe franchise partner and flights can be booked now at flybe.com

Guernsey the poorer neighbour of Jersey always seemed to fall on the wayside of any major route expansion in the past. The Island has always maintained a steady number of visitors so hopefully this will work well for Blue Islands and give the people of Liverpool an alternative departure point.

Your right it seems like that, given that Easyjet are using A319s into Jersey, surely Blue Islands with their smaller aircraft should manage to do ok.

I do recall when I moved to the Northwest, there was only LPL-JER summers only with a British Midland DC9, plus some charters by local travel companies. So generally LPL to CI is much better now.

3 x arrivals from Jersey today at 17.30, 17.40 and 18.35. All ATR72.. Getting out of the storm maybe !!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
