Balkan Holidays celebrates 40 years of flying holiday makers from Cardiff to Bulgaria
The specialist tour operator, which has operated flights to and from Wales’ national airport since 1979, marked its Ruby anniversary at Cardiff Airport yesterday before the weekly departure to Bourgas in Bulgaria, by surprising excited passengers at the Gate with a celebration.

Holidaymakers were treated to anniversary cupcakes made by local cake specialist the Vale Cake Boutique, before jetting off on a sunny holiday.

Cardiff Airport also presented Balkan Holidays with a commemorative luggage tag to mark 40 years of service at Cardiff Airport.

Deb Bowen Rees, CEO of Cardiff Airport said, “It’s fantastic to celebrate the 40th Anniversary with Balkan Holidays, it is a really important milestone for both Cardiff Airport and the tour operator. The charter routes are highly popular with local holidaymakers, offering a great value for money summer holiday. We look forward to flying passengers between Bulgaria and Cardiff in the years to come!”

Louise Newton, Head of Marketing and PR at Balkan Holidays, added, “We’re excited to celebrate such an important occasion. So many have flown with us from Cardiff and it is a pleasure to arrange holidays from Wales’ national airport. We look forward to the next 40 years!”

Balkan Holidays offers holidays at competitive prices, to popular resorts such as Sunny Beach on the Black Sea Coast. For something a little more relaxed, customers can opt for resorts in Nessebar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a postcard-coastline and cobbled old town to explore. Flights for Summer 2020 are now on sale: travellers can book at balkanholidays.co.uk or visit their local travel agent.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
